I actually agree on this, Jdub is better than Paolo and Chet surprisingly

If they had the second pick, I would be willing to trade multiple picks for in this draft, but not number three. If he wants multiple picks he’ll have to take Jalen for Maxey

injuries aren’t my favorite excuse for poor shooting. I’ve injured my shoulder on my shooting arm over 7 times playing basketball and it’s still my biggest strength on the court

Chet could be better but his development has been screwed up by injuries--and his whole career might end up looking like swiss cheese for the same reason.

As much as I do like Jabari and he seemed like the obvious choice at the time--Williams is the one draft miss I regret. Swap Jabari for J-Dub and holy sh*t would our future look bright. Amen/Williams/Sengun would be a helluva big three, just ship out JG for some more 3nD.

Agree, but it's the 2nd and 3rd order effects that can impact your shooting--namely confidence. I've seen hundreds of different shooting forms as a player and coach, and I'd swear some of them would never work in a game, but that player's confidence in their shot made all the difference.

Egor has been pushed his entire life to play at a level above his age/maturity level and he's usually done very well. I think coming back from the injury and the increased level of competition he began facing was a tough adjustment, and he didn't handle it as well as he wanted. He's young and these types of setbacks are natural and gives us a chance to see how he adjusts and bounces back. He's a bright kind, who learned English and Spanish while attending the Real Madrid Academy, I think he'll figure it out and this is the kind of risk/reward pick that I believe could pay of big for us.

You could be right on Demin, if that’s who Stone and Ime think will be the best pick so be it. This draft is loaded up on talent and I feel like they have so many options

He extended Embid and used cap space to get Paul George. Most NBA experts felt it was the best off season in the league going into this season. Paul George was coming off a very good season in 2024. Embid had injury concerns but he was getting extended regardless of GM.

It hasn't worked out well for Philadelphia/Morey so far and probably will not.

Daryl Morey also drafted Tyrese Maxey.

It is an over statement to claim that Daryl Morey destroyed the Sixers - a lot of the limitations go back to before he was even with the team. Elton Brand blew assets to get Jimmy Butler and then did not resign him, and also blew cap space on Tobias Harris.

I don't think that Morey hates draft picks - he wasn't allowed to tear it down in Houston and in Philadelphia they wanted to win immediately.

J-Dub would have the same sh*tty offensive coach as Jabari does, so there is no guarantee that he would perform the same.

I don't see Jdub being able to be an offensive generator like SGA or even Paolo at this stage. Big difference between being a Batman vs Robin.

Signing Paul George after already having an injury prone Embid is what destroyed the sixers. It would be like the Rockets signing a super max Durant for 5 years because he was relatively healthy last year. Paul George was/is fool’s gold and Morey was the fool.

I only saw Demin play in 3 games-- small sample-- but what I saw looked like he's nowhere near being able to handle physical defense. Maybe our coaching staff thinks they can train him to adapt? I like the idea of a tall PG who can shoot. Uzan might be a better bet, and available in the 2nd round.

This is what I'm afraid of. Is there a single player that anyone felt clearly improved on their offensive game under Ime? Jabari? No. Jalen? No. Tari? No. Cam? Out of the rotation. Reed? Forgot how to shoot. Sengun? Also forgot how to shoot. Amen? Maybe? But his offense is still clearly a work in progress and a lot of it does come from transition or where he's just showing off otherworldly athleticism.

It's really hard to be confident in our coaching staff when we drafted the best shooting prospect in two drafts and they are both below-average NBA shooters here.

The NBA has finally released all the data from the NBA combine for draft-eligible players. Jakucionis was tested with an average guard size (6'4.75", 205 lbs) and an agility score of 10.99. This would suggest he has the raw quickness to compete on the court.

He's not an immediate liability that gets hunted just for his size.

His shooting at the combine was solid but not spectacular. Again, this makes sense. Jakucionis isn't the kind of player who will wow on a practice court. It's when he sets up other players that he'll stand out. He gets to the foul line 4+ times a game, distributes 4+ assists, and collects 5 boards.

He would be a steadying influence and contributor.

There was no reason to extend Embiid. It was deeply stupid and franchise crippling.

So as many folks have mentioned and I agree, this pick is likely to be traded. But in the spirit of this thread, if we picked at #10, there aren’t any no brainer prospects at that spot. Everyone is gonna have significant questions. Can we find the next JDub? Is there a JDub-caliber player (or close to) somewhere in the late lotto, like when OKC grabbed him in the late lotto 3yrs ago?

it feels like Carter Bryant might be one of those prospects. Some people are pointing to Cedric Coward (older player like J-Dub was). Some folks seem to like the French prospects: Esengue and Traore. Niq Clifford is criminally underrated and concerns about Fleming’s lack of dribbling ability lessen substantially considering he has the measurables to play both front court positions.

Are one of these guys the J-Dub of this draft?

He can't lead and his BBIQ is reportedly low.

    Ownership wanted it done.

I am not claiming Morey has done an amazing or even good job - but the George move was a no brainer for most people around the league at the time and ownership wanted Embiid extended.
