If we could possibly get desmond away from the bucks... that would be grand. probably not this offseason, but before the trade deadline.

Hi there ROCKET!!! Your thinking mirrors mine. I think Gerald Wallace is the athletic swingman we need. I was just discussing this on another thread, and since it's relevant here, indulge me in a bit of copy a and paste:

regarding Wallace, he is just 23 years old, stands at 6'7 and was 9th in steals per game, with just an average of 30 mins played.

His FG% was .449 the past season. And he blocks shots too, 1.67 last year.

Granted, his 3PT shot has to be worked on, as .240 won't suffice, but he seems like a nice addition to our young core.

I tried a head-to-head comparison between him and Desmond Mason and was pleasanlty surprised to find this...

    Wallace:

    PPG 11.1
    RPG 5.5
    APG 2.0
    SPG 1.67
    BPG 1.30
    FG% .449
    FT% .661
    3P% .274
    MPG 30.7

    Mason:

    PPG 17.2
    RPG 3.9
    APG 2.7
    SPG .73
    BPG .34
    FG% .443
    FT% .802
    3P% .125
    MPG 36.2

He is a RFA though, so we might need to get creative to grab him. I was thinking that maybe a SNT with Memphis that brought back Swift and Williams, while freeing our MLE might enable us to offer it to Wallace and dare the 'cats to match.

    thoughts?

Disregarding specific players, the biggest weakness on the roster still seems to be the lack of size in the backcourt. I know a 'true' PG would be nice, but since when is JWill (either one) a proven playoff PG?

Given the options, I'd like to see them move DWesley and Spoon/Ward/Mooch, either SnT or otherwise, to get enough $$$ to offer Latrell Sprewell a shot at redemption.

Spree's value has bottomed out to the point where he can't even get a MLE offer, but the talent is still there to provide a big, proven scorer to replace Wesley and bring some size to the backcourt. And he still outplayed Wesley last year, which was probably the worst of his career.

He's getting older, but he's not done yet. He could provide a solid third scorer (about 13-14PPG), cover the other team's best BIG perimeter scorer so Tmac doesn't have to, and every knows about JVG's paternalism for his former NY players.

If we could somehow squeeze him in with our LLE and/or expiring contracts, I think he could do for the Rockets what Stackhouse brought for the Mavs in last year's playoffs.

I hope we upgrade with a SG/SF AND memphis keeps J Will... so Damon can spent his last productive years getting 18 minutes a night on a .500 team in a city in the middle of nowhere

,,,hope the extra .8 million a year (or whatever the number is) will be worth it !
