Mike James' PER is actually worse than Rafer's. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

On the other hand, Chucky Atkins' PER is number 10 in the league.

    Just a thought.

    Chicago Bulls
    Incoming Players: Pau Gasol
Outgoing Players: Viktor Khryapa, Kirk Hinrich, Malik Allen, Ben Gordon

    Memphis Grizzlies
Incoming Players: Kirk Snyder, Juwan Howard, Viktor Khryapa, Malik Allen, Ben Gordon
    Outgoing Players: Pau Gasol

    Houston Rockets
    Incoming Players: Kirk Hinrich
Outgoing Players: Kirk Snyder, Juwan Howard

Rockets throw in a 1st round pick to the Grizzlies and a two 2nd round picks to the Bulls. Alternatively, the Rockets could send Bonzi to the Grizz for their trade exception, and send the first round pick to the Bulls.

So our power forward rotation would be: Chuck Hayes and Steve Novak.

Yeah, even for Kirk Hinrich, I don't see that happening.

How about someone besides Mikes James? He kind of sucks.

Orlando wants to trade Diener. He could be our backup pg. If they would do that for Sura I say go for it.

I like Bonzi and I think we should keep him. But if JVG wants him gone, would Orl throw in Ariza for Bonzi (along with Diener for Sura)? That way Orl gets cap relief for their run at VC and we get Ariza, who I think is at least a great bench player in the future. He is tall and long and could guard the Dirk's and other PFs (maybe, he may be too short but I've heard he is a really good defender because he has a long wingspan). All I really know about Ariza is that he's young, long, and had a triple double in college. Haven't checked to see if this works salarywise.

Etan Thomas or Brendan Haywood is leaving Wash. I'd rather have Haywood, but Thomas is the more likely to be traded. Him for Sura might be good (if he can guard PFs like Dirk or Stoudamire in the playoffs). If either could play PF or C then it would help next year if we lose Jake or Howard (or even Mutombo).

    Thoughts?

Guess who is the best defending PG judge by opponent's eFG?

    It is Rafer! :D

Rafer allowed 45.9 eFG, the best among the starting PGs.

It's a modified form of FG%, which accounts for 3 pointers, but does not account for FTs. eFG= (1.5 X 3pt FGs made+ 2 pt fgs made)/FG attempted.

The modified FG% that accounts for both 3 pointers and FTs is called "TS%" (True Shooting Percentage).

I doubt the Bulls give up both PGs for Pau. If a deal is made, the mix of players/picks they trade would include only one of them.

So I guess we're all just gonna ignore the fact that his game is straight trash now, and he lost his job to a freaking rookie?

Well Alston is so bad that he should lose his job to James.

I figure the Grizz would just keep Hinrich rather than giving him up for just Juwan and Snyder.

that's pretty much as far from the truth as possible.....the only facet to mike james's game is his ability to create his own shot. you're telling me that's what we need at starting PG? Rafer is what he is....a great passer, a decent defender, a lousy shooter, and someone with a pretty high basketball IQ. Now, if you want to bring in Mike James off the bench, so we can take our time developing John Lucas, I might be willing to get on board with that. Besides, the only reason why he had such an amazing year last year in Toronto was because he decided that he was going to take every shot in that offense, and parlay it into a big contract for himself. Isn't it pretty evident that he's not the same player as he was last year? I was hoping that our winning record and imminent playoff spot coupled with his benching in Minnesota would FINALLY end this pointless discussion, but I guess facts aren't everything in an argument.....

So, who is preferred - a bought out Stevie or a Sura/Bonzi dealt for mj?

Do the Rox get involved - somehow - with the Kidd to LAL or GSW move? If so, how?

Wouldn't you want to test out that lineup by using Rafer instead of Hinrich and seeing how that team does? We're not at our best with Battier at the 4 and Bonzi is a scorer, not a role player. That lineup looks good on paper.. only on paper.

If CD pulled that move for Hinrich, I'd be happy he's leaving. However, he's not that dumb. Battier looks okay by the numbers, but he only plays PF 19% of the time.

Howard is an asset on offense and does his job on defense:

The trade is just not worth Hinrich. Now, add a PF to the mix and everyone is listening.

Stevie, everytime. You get to keep Bonzi in that scenario.

I hate to say it, but mike james is what this team needs.I think him and rafer would make a nice point guard combo and would help us to move further in the playoffs.

I don't understand why (almost) everyone on this board seems to suffer from selective amnesia!

Mike James???!!! When we had him he was someone who wouldn't pass. He and T-Mac were feuding because James wouldn't pass the damn ball to our star player. And let's not forget he decided against going to Houston since we wouldn't add in a no-trade clause in the contract. I believe he has that now - do you really think he'd agree to coming over to us now? Oh, and at the present moment he sucks!

Stevie Francis???!!! - First off, I always liked Steve, but fee bad for him because he just can't seem to effectively fit anywhere. Doesn't have the passing skills to be a point, and is too short to be a 2. Remember that when he was with Houston JVG tried many times in different ways to make him more effective. He also had some of the worst BB IQ I can remember. How can you guys forget the plays where he slowly advanced the ball and dribbled out the clock, only to pass to an open team-mate when there was too little time on the clock or took an ill-advised shot himself. This is the guy you want back at the helm? And isn't he having health (as in staying healthy) problems right now? I just don't understand how he is the solution to our problems.

Lastly, Rafer - for all the items he's missing, we all saw how much he brought to the table and how much he is needed the game he was ejected and we had to rely on Head and JL3 to be our point. Wasn't that painful!! Kind of reminds me a couple years back when everyone (including me) was b****ing about how bad J Howard was and how we needed to ship off his worthless butt for a half-eaten ham sandwich. Then he was injured and missed the playoffs and the only thing anyone could talk about was how great a player he was and we could have made it all the way if only we had J Howard (the all star) on the floor.

Memories. If only I could remember them...
