If Twolves are getting rid of James, y arent we all over it? If other teams get better while we stay pat with actually assets to offer (Sura, Wells) I'll be pretty pissed......

Getting Sam Cassell back would mean so much. As I was watching the game last night, I was just pipedreaming about how the Clippers would just send him off to a contender. Cassell brings leadership and a mouthpiece to the 1 as well as a post up option on frequent mismatches at his position.

My only question is though, if the Rockets acquire a top-tier PG like a Cassell, James, or Ridnour via trade, do they still go for Franchise if he's bought out? I truly believe Francis will be bought out AFTER the trade deadline as the Knicks are hoping some sucker will give them something for him. It seems like Houston is his first choice if he is bought out.

Maybe because of that "trade kicker" in his contract that he absolutely had to have! Who pays the penalty, the Wolves or his new team, anyone?

I, too, watched a lot of the Wolves' game and mj looked fine. He looked like a good chip for this team. It'll take a salary dump to effect it. Possible. With James/Wolves a possible player in a three-way scenario I don't see him moved until the dead dead deadline.

Delonte was unwanted by Danny who gave away #7 pick for Telfair. DA's job may be tenuous and this botched trade has to be a part of that.

Thank you, Luke Ridnour may be OBTAINABLE or not. Thank you for disdaining the ludicrously wrong ATTAINABLE. BTW - I suspect not. Besides, does he not have a poison pill as his salary shoots up next season?

I'm just speculating about the when he'd be bought out. But there is a recent article on Yahoo that someone posted in another thread saying Francis may be next in line for a buyout. There is just no way CD can stand pat with no legit backup PG. I don't like the thought of Luther bringing the ball up in the middle of games. I also don't like the thought of Tmac bringing the ball up either...that takes away one of your best offensive options off the ball. Priorities should be another legit PG on the very top of the list, and a PF with range and/or toughness as a distant second on the list.

    1) he hasnt played well
    2) I think the bridges have been burned b/c of some of his comments
    3) his attitude

He hasn't played well, which is why he's obtainable. Where I have a problem is when people say Rafer Alston is playing well and James is not. Rafer is playing 36.7 minutes a night and James 28.1 ... give James the same minutes and here are the numbers.

    <table border=1 cellpadding=3 cellspacing=0 bordercolor="#bababa"><tr bgcolor="#cccccc"><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>Player</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>G</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>FG%</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>3p%</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>FT%</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>OFF</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>DEF</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>RPG</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>APG</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>SPG</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>BPG</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>TO</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>PF</b></font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000><b>PPG</b></font></td></tr><tr bgcolor=#ffffff><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>Rafer Alston</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>52</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.370</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.366</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.708</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>0.5</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>2.9</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>3.3</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>5.3</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>1.7</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>0.2</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>2.25</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>2.40</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>13.5</font></td></tr><tr bgcolor=#eeeeee><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>Mike James</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>53</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.422</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.358</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>.846</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>0.4</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>2.6</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>3.0</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>5.4</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>0.9</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>0.1</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>2.41</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>3.13</font></td><td><font face=arial size=2 color=#000000>14.4</font></td></tr></table>

The reason why the hypocrisy from Rafer's fans is partly because of James' past comments, but mostly from expectations: This is a great year for Rafer by Rafer's standards and this is a poor year for James by James' standards.

I agree though this is a bad year for Mike James... I think being in Houston he would see an increase in his three-point accuracy (if he enjoys the kind of three-ball looks Rafer gets). There is a lot of potential upside here... the chemistry "concern" is totally whacked. Who is worried about a talented guard coming in as the backup throwing a wrench in the works? The chemistry has been great every year JVG/T-Mac/Yao have been here (including a half-season that included Mike James himself). We need to stop overvaluing role players because they are "chemistry guys".

Possibly... after he passed on signing with the Rockets this summer anyway. Before that he made a lot of "Me-MVP" type comments and that didn't concern them as they offered him the full MLE to get him here. My understanding is James was communicating to people at the Toyota Center this past offseason that he was all but a Rocket again, so I agree he may have burned a bridge by not signing.

Not sure which attitude you're referring to ... the fabricated "only play well in a contract year" attitude or the balls-to-the-wall, chip-on-his shoulder attitude. Could do without the former if it is accurate, but the latter is why we could use him.

    You're not sure...

The guy starts first 50 games of the season, doesn't provide the production the Wolves expected when they signed him, and than complains immediately after losing his starting job (even though it's obvious he's better of the bench).

Uh, hi ... please try reading the entire paragraph there. Fairly obvious I wasn't saying he didn't have an attitude.

Oh man, a point guard signs a multi-year deal and in the first season with his new team he says he could always play somewhere else if they didn't want him. Terrible attitude. I hate when that happens.

Now imagine James signed a 6-year deal instead of a 3-4, threatened to quit the entire season, walked out on his teammates at both games and practices, cried in front of television cameras and came to blows with his coach.

    <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2004/12/04/raptors-cavs041204.html" target="_blank">Now <I>that</I> would be an "attitude"</a>.

his salary would be around 6.5m after the trade kicker is put into action. rockets don't have the assets and salary space to absorb that. after the trade for big jake they're down to around 1.5m before paying LT.

According to league sources, the Suns are talking with several teams as the trade deadline nears.

Marcus Banks and Kurt Thomas are the players other teams are bringing up in the discussions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and at least two other teams have inquired about Banks, and the Suns might be willing to move him as a way to trim their payroll without getting anything in return.

James' contract has less years than Banks' so that's more appealing from my perspective. Plus James is better and battle tested. Kurt Thomas isn't bad but I would have been more interested in him as a 4/5 if we hadn't already added another big in Tsack.

IMHO yes, it's terrible. Because he wouldn't be starting here and it's obvious that starting to him comes ahead of some other things.

I was fine with giving him the MLE and 6th man role last summer, but nothing more. Because that's the role I believe he's most suitable for.

What's the point about posting 2+ yrs old article on Rafer's issues? Is he troublesome here/now?

If Mike James accepts a reduced role he could add some defense and could pull double teams if he gets hot. I would be more willing to take a chance on proven playoff achievers than to be cautious with minimal role players because of chemistry concerns.

    GET MIKE JAMES.

Bonzi, Alston, Head and whoever else to make a deal for Jason Kidd. It would be super if that was to happen.

You do realize what would such a deal mean to our depth?
