It will certainly be interesting. As to which player's minutes will be affected most, I believe it will depend on game situations and the performance of DMo,Smith, and TJones.

Right now Smith is the player most likely to be impacted because of his recent play...but that could change.

One thing for certain, the Rockets are a far better team with a healthy D12 than without him.

Some fans are clearly just salivating at the possible opportunity to bash D12 (more) and to throw more bombs at Coach McHale. LOL and I once thought this was a Rockets forum.

I think Dwight posting has more to do with giving the defense different looks rather than just posting up because it's Dwight. The league knows the Rockets live and die by the 3. Fortunately, this hasn't back fired yet..YET. Come playoff time, the rockets cant rely on their 30+ 3 point attempts to bail them out. The defense will be in their grill more, and the shots will be challenged more - thus making the post game that much more important.

What I would like to see out of Dwight in the post is to make quickly attack while in the post or look to pass ball out of the post. He has been prone to turning the ball over in the post as well, and he will have to limit those turnovers.

You people act like dwight was horrible in post ups. He wasnt the best but he is a more dominant post up player then dmo. DMo hasnt been playing well in the post lately and we hardly go down to him anymore. DMo is good and all but he is slightly overrated here, he started off well but has come back to earth and shown he still needs to get stronger, he has great potential but not finished product yet. Howard WILL be a major part of our offense and key to our defense come playoff time and we wont go past the first round without him.

It's farily obvious to everyone who's watched him play that his post game is terrible. Stats indicate as much and don't even take into account when his post attempts lead to turn overs. So no dominate isn't a word you can use anymore to describe his post game.

Second, comparisons to a Dmo are premature either for or against Dmo since Dmo's game (mental and physical) is still developing where as Dwight is what he is and if anything is declining.

The problem IMO is most of our bigs are more comfortable playing outside in, rather than inside out. Smith and Jones prefer to drive from the perimeter like a wing. DMo likes his post ups, but aside from that, isn't really comfortable battling in the paint.

Only Dorsey thrives underneath the rim, but he only get spot minutes since Jones returned. Overall, I feel we've been weaker inside ever since Jones and DMo have started together. Hopefully, Howard's return will change that.

Last I checked they aren't on our roster. So, DMo is better? TJones is better? How about Smith? Or maybe you prefer Dorsey?

I joyously welcome D12 back...his rim protection is unequaled when healthy, his rebounding is outstanding when healthy, and he is a proven playoff asset.

He may not be the D12 of old...but he may be a smarter, more experienced D12. Time will tell.

he didnt have a problem posting up last playoffs against lopez. his stats this year are heavily skewed. if he's 100% or close to it in the playoffs, his post ups will be a lot better

"Heavily skewed" is not an explanation if you don't include a "by ____". He has not posted a full season of strong post play (statistically speaking) since his back injury in Orlando. He looked awesome against Portland and that guy is still buried in him somewhere, but when you're comparing 4 years of data against 6 games, you expect Dwight to come back looking more like the 4 years.

He's likely to be better than he has been yet this season, but only because in points per possession terms it is hard to be worse.

The Rockets' offense is 2.7 points per 100 possessions better with Howard on the floor this season.

Tha'ts an quote from an article and it just means Howard is bad compared to those players your offense to it is irrelevant.

Your logic is also not sound, if Dwight is bad at posting up then we simply shouldn't be posting him up it does not mean that anyone prefers any other player to Dwight Howard. It just means Dwight should do the thing he's good at. Dwight pick and roll situations usually lead to an easy layup or dunk. His post up situations lead to turnovers, more missed shots and cringe FREE THROWS. Let's avoid those things as much as possible.

Whether Howard should post up or not depends entirely on the matchups.

Against people smaller then him or average defenders Dwight is a monster. Against anyone as big or good defenders, Howard is terrible. This is mainly due to his reliance on his physical advantages to score.

Our bench becomes DEEPER once Howard returns. That's a big plus not to mention Howard's defensive impact on the game. Now if he would just play around the rim and not toy around with the basketball slowing the offense down then we truly become a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs..especially if Brewer continues to go off. Keep in mind Josh Smith hasn't found his groove entirely yet on the team so he might take it up a notch also before it's all said and done.

When he's been in the games, our point differential has been contender worthy. His post ups may not be the most efficient offense but our offense actually is more efficient with him. I can't wait for the big fella to be back!
