Sorry, didn't mean to plagiarize Moe! Moe, you rock!

Anyways, man I can only dream of getting someone like Al Jefferson. I think the Wolves might really let him go since they are thinking the future and further develop Love. Also, his off court problems won't help in bringing him back next season too. Jefferson is exactly what this team needs and if we find a way to keep Scola and sign him, we will seriously contend for a championship!

I don't think it's too much to ask for your team to be in win now mode. I will always watch the rockets but after getting Kevin Martin it appears that Morey and the rest of management is banking on riding out the Yao Ming era and if that's the case we might be one player away from winning it all. I enjoyed watching the Rockets when they were up and coming with Francis and Yao and also when they were on the brink of being great with Tmac and Yao. However, at this point I feel like they should go all in and see what they can get done with Yao, Martin and possibly a Bosh or Amare. I think Morey is thinking the same thing based on the way he pursued Amare at the end of the trade deadline.

I think the point the previous poster was trying to make was that if your team isn't trying to be a winning team then they aren't worth watching. I could never be a clippers fan bc I feel like a majority of the time their owner isn't make a real effort to win. All I ask of my team is that they either have some kind of plan for building a contender whether it be short term or long term and I happen to believe that the Rockets are going with the former right now.

I think we go for Bosh fail and end up with Amare. Like Martin, Amare is another player Morey has coveted for a long while. We have assets the Suns would be interested in and it appears they have burned bridges with him.

Either way it should be a fun couple of seasons. You have Jeffries, Battier, and Yao expiring at once as well as the NY picks to look forward to and a nice core of Scola, Martin, AB, Hill, Buddinger, Lowry, and Ariza.

I hope the Rockets make a trade that improves the team this summer, but I think if they don't they'll still be a contender next year. Getting Yao back will be huge, but there are a couple of other reasons, too:

    1. I think many people are making the same mistake they made coming into this year, by failing to take into account the continued improvement of our young talent. People look at the team as static, assuming that the young players all will perform next year at the exact same level they're performing this year. It was likely going into this season that someone -- Brooks, Landry, Budinger, Ariza -- was going to step up and improve, and that's exactly what happened. People looking at the Rockets going into this season failed to take this into account. Stars become stars while playing somewhere -- they aren't only acquired through trades and signings. Brooks is a good example. Who will make a leap next year. Budinger? Hill? A draftee?

    2. As much as you may want to, you simply can't judge how good the Rockets are based on the games they've played since acquiring Martin. This is because some of their best defenders have been out, and they've taken a huge hit as a result. Does anyone really think the Rockets record since the trade would be as bad as it is if Lowry, Ariza and Battier had played all these games? When they're at full strength, they'll be much better than they have been.

With Yao, recovery from injuries and a good draft, the team will be light years better than it has been lately, and, I think, good enough to be a dark horse contender. Of course, the right trade could make them that much better.
