AI is not going to the Mavs, or Tiberwolves, becaue he doesnt fill their needs... and he will not be here unless we rape them in a trade...even IF that happened, it will screw up any chemistry we have built up to that point....
AI would be better as an SG imo..he is way too selfish to be a PG, basically, Mike James is the poor man's AI.
Let's look a little deeper here... The current high-mileage version of the 31 year Iverson is shooting 41.3%. The coming off of a back injury looking for his touch 27 year old McGrady is shooting 41.5%. Fighting spirit? Must be talking about Iverson and Larry Brown? Leadership? Is that where players show up for practice? Pretty good place to lead from what I've heard. Allen's not joining Bonzi on any marathons, right? The Finals? 12-11 (Pacers 3-1; Raptors 4-3; Bucks 4-3; Lakers 1-4) The coach? Larry Brown. The players? A young healthy Theo Ratliff, a 35 yo Mutombo who was named defensive player of the year, a young healthy Aaron McKie who was named 6th man of the year plus younger versions of Snow, Tyronne Hill, Geo Lynch and Toni Kukoc. The Lakers had the 2nd best WC record after the Spurs. That "Finals" PHI team was a 16-12 vs the WC but that included sweeps of a horrible Vancouver and GS. Otherwise, that "Finals" team was a .500 WC team. Almost forgot...one instance of McGrady being better...that "Finals" PHI was 1-3 in the regular season vs McGrady's Magic. I don't suppose being 8" taller and able to pass over defenders counts much in your world. So how about McGrady is "better" at being a Rocket.
It 's just too much to give up ... just for a 30 year old A.I!!! If Houston do this, who is going to fill up our bench? Novak, Padgett, V-Span, Deke, JL III ... who else? A few guys from the D-league or what? Don 't forget Snyder is still out ... You can 't win, if you don 't have a bench!
Are yall crazy (the people who wanna trade)? Thats it. Oh no wait you only trade T-Mac if you can get Garnett AND D-Wade in return. Anyway t-mac gonna kill the competition with Yao and the team offcourse when playoff time has arrived.
repeat after me, out loud a team with great chemistry >> a team with great skills [again, again, again...]
In the words of a new and very popular game show: Iverson for McGrady - NO DEAL! Obtaining AI without losing T-Mac or Yao - DEAL!
Why do people start to dislike T-Mac because he is no longer a scoring machines like he used to be? Basketball is about teamwork. And I think the 2007 T-Mac is a great team player. He dished the ball very well this year. He did a lot of great dishes to Yao in the post. He said he used to be very exciting about being the scoring champ, but not now. This is because he wants a championship now. He wants to bring the team to the next level. That's the reason for his transformation this year. Comparing the 28PPG solo player and a 20PPG team player, I would definitely take the latter. The 13-6 record is the evidence. I just don't understand why some of you are still complaining about T-mac. As a Rockets fan, I don't want a good-looking stat sheet for T-mac. I want a good standing of the Rockets in the league and a championship. AI for T-mac? NO WAY!!! Why take the risk? Why break the chemistry between Yao and T-mac and even the whole team? Why take AI who occasionally commits to some off-court problems? I don't see how the FG% of our SG will improve with AI. Also, I am not sure if AI will be so willing to share the ball with Yao as T-mac now does. And AI is 31 now.
Guys, we are talking about T-Mac here man.... Since when did T-Mac get so much disrespect like this that people are talking about trading him?? To AI??? The bad back he had last year? The shooting woes earlier this season? He will be ok by all star break. Don't let your fantasy mislead you. Remember all your fantasy about how the athleticism of Swift is going to make us a contender? Remember all this celebration about how Bonzi is going to put us over the top? Heck... did you guys remember all this talk when we first traded Steve and Cat for T-Mac, on how T-Mac and Yao will instantly become 1-2 punch and rule the league? Great team is not built overnight. Don't think for a second that a slicing and dishing AI, coupled with Yao, will instantly make Rockets a champion. That's a fantasy, just like all of your other fantasy. Our core of T-Mac and Yao are very solid this year. They have been playing together for 3 years. They know JVG's system very well, and they have learned each other's pattern, like and dislike in the court. And now you guys are talking about trading T-Mac to AI?
AI - Let's see...headcase, whiner, not a great passer....... No THANKS !!!! Didn't we just learn a leasson with Bonzi..... DD PS.....remember the rule, when dealing with players of equal or near equal talent...ALWAYS take the bigger player.
I guess I'm the only here it seems like, but I want nothing to do with AI. He's always complaining, he's selfish, he's a chucker, why would we want him. I know T-Mac is struggling a little, but at least he's a facilitator and gets everyone involved.
There is no way in hell we should trade T-mac straight up for AI. NoNONO!! It will set us back for years to come!
Perhaps a lot of you have not noticed, we are in third place. A team should not trade any of their core players away when they are in third place. This is the best Rockets team I have seen since we traded away Cassell, Chucky Brown and Horry. Why would anyone want to mess that up?
Hell naw, you guys will regret saying this when the playoffs come around. Iverson has a great desire and passion for the game, but his style will not work with the Rockets team we have right now. T-Mac may not always be as motivated, but he is FAR more talented than Iverson and does everything for us right now. Most importantly, he's getting Yao the ball and making him the primary scoring option as most of you people on this board want. With Iverson, Yao would go back to #2 scoring option because I don't think Iverson can settle for less.
