I thought when disucssing poor student performance we blamed the parents and kids for not being serious about education in this large city school districts.

I guess that isn't a good strategy in this discussion

I personally think when addressing poor performance we have to look at the homes these kids come from more than blaming teachers in any political discussion

complicated question. a mix of decreasing poverty, increasing awareness of the importance of education, some of these people just have no hope and that translates to through the kids.

It is good to see you asking the question. It totally unfair to ask schools to solve all the problems of America's third world approach to kids and families. You are on your own.

Walker (with the backing of the Republican Governors Association's money) keeps it real.

A unionized employee, a Tea Party member & a corporate CEO are sitting at a table. In the middle is a plate with a dozen cookies on it. The CEO reaches out & takes 11 of the cookies, then says to the Tea Party member "look out for that union guy, he wants a piece of your cookie."

    I love it.

the only thing wrong with that joke is that it probably undersells the absolutely robbery that goes on. Maybe they start with 817 cookies, and the CEO take 816 of them. I know it's not as smooth as an even dozen, but...

Don't forget the table, the chairs, the plate, and the cookies were all probably made by a union person.

Don't forget that the rules are that a minimum of 3 people should be assigned in the chair construction, and the problem is that 1 person walked off the job without letting anyone know...The easy route is management hiring someone else to replace the person who abandoned the job, but the rules state that before termination can occur a 14 day review of the situation should be implemented by the "ERROR", otherwise called the : employee resource representative officer reviewer, and despite people or maybe kids being hungry for cookies we have to go forth on the established manner as negotiated . . .

Stupid Dems... they have such a weak position and no end game, they should gladly take whatever the Repubs offer.

Seems like a certain Governor didn’t want to face some constituents during his budget unveiling today.

For what its worth a recent poll shows that most Americans oppose weakening collective bargaining.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41840204/ns/us_news-life

[rquoter]The latest New York Times/CBS poll shows that Americans oppose efforts to weaken the collective bargaining rights of public employee unions by a margin of almost two to one — 60 percent to 33 percent.

The nationwide telephone poll of 984 adults was conducted Feb. 24-27 and had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points. [/rquoter]

Did he really just use "Open for Business?"

This whole thing is like Rick Perry called him and asked him where his huevos were or something.

Obviously the teachers don't...They will submit to financial concessions as long as they Get back ability to be in the same position at a future date which ruined us in the first place financially...Give us free.. ..

They should have never been granted free at the expense of future generations (which is us)...
