While these posts are usualy the definition of TL; DR, the graphic caught my attention. Question: What kind of idiot was responsible for gathering these stats? $10-15 million spread out nationally over hundreds of races is a drop in the bucket. Meg Whitman spent something like $200 million alone in her losing bid for California governor. Hell the libertarian Koch brothers have funneled hundreds of millions, and that's just 2 guys. Moronic.
Yes, he does, he specifically mentioned this in his article. He also mentioned that the groups allowed by the Citizens United ruling spent $100 million more in 2010 on Republicans than Democrats. IOW, your article fails because they are distorting the truth and cherry picking their statistics. In many places, such people would be called liars.
But Sam, the headlines for those articles are in RED and REALLY BIG FONTS! How can you not understand and acquiesce?
Agreed. Also, the way I see the whole deficit thing is that the corporate elite are trying to use the typical downturn in the business cycle to their advantage. The highest priority of the corporate elite and evidenced by their media corporations they own is "tax breaks for billionaires and millionaires". This is why they are using the temporary unbalanced budgets caused by the bad economy to push their agenda to defeat unions, both in government and in private industry. They refuse to do the sensible thing done many times in the past to bail out state governments and teachers till the economy rebounds. What a great country we bail out hedge fund guys and not teachers or social security recipients. Instead worrying about problems ten, twenty, thirty years from now we demand immediate cuts to them now. It is frustrating to see little guys like rtsy fighting the fight for folks way above their pay grade.
It's no surprise that another of rtsy's articles is full of flaws and holes big enough to drive a truck through. At least this one was about something important.
Now, as tens of thousands of union members and other Wisconsin residents are taking to the streets to protest against Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) attempt to abolish collective bargaining rights for most public workers, a leader of Egypt’s largest umbrella group of independent labor unions is praising the Wisconsin movement. In a videotaped statement, Kamal Abbas, the General Coordinator of the Centre for Trade Unions and Workers Services, tells the Wisconsin protesters, “We stand with you as you stood with us.” He says “no one believed” that the revolution against the Mubarak regime would succeed, yet they were able to bring the dictator down within 18 days. He encourages demonstrators to stay strong, saying, “Don’t give up on your rights. Victory always belongs to the people who stand firm and demand their just rights”: I am speaking to you from a place very close to Tahrir Square in Cairo, “Liberation Square”, which was the heart of the Revolution in Egypt. This is the place were many of our youth paid with their lives and blood in the struggle for our just rights. From this place, I want you to know that we stand with you as you stood with us. It was down for 30 minutes because of the "free" wifi's security software. These people are completely delusional.
Sam, at first glance a savage rejoinder. However, I'm not sure it does much good. This libertarian belief system is a more of a faith thing and is pretty impervious to Reason (pun intended).

Guy calls Governor Walker posing as David Koch. They have a 20-minute conversation. Walker is none the wiser. http://www.buffalobeast.com/?p=5045 Amusing, at the very least. A governor answering to a billionaire non-resident?

Checked out the rally at the MN Capitol yesterday and there was about a 1,000 people out there in support of Wisconsin protesters. Some in the MN legislature, Republican majorities in both houses, have discussed similar legislation to Wisconsin but with Dayton as governor it seems unlikely such legislation can get passed. Here are some pics. Forgot how similar the central rotunda's of MN and WI are. Spoilered for size. Spoiler Here's one for Glynch
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to rtsy again! Thank you bro! I'm too busy at my clinic treating patients and earning an honest living to fight with these sorry leftists, I have your back as well as my fellow conservatives' in this forum, we must never let these loudmouth bullies shout us down and distort the truth!
what is an "in" and how do i get one? is it like the fire you get if you don't do your job correctly?
I'm not sure which you pegged better: the hyperbole-meter or the irony-meter. Maybe you broke both at once. I guess it's kind of like being an incompetent fighter pilot who blacks out right as he breaks the wings off.
I just saw something about a Walker prank call. Got to go do real work, but maybe someone can see what it is all about.
