I honestly can't remember a time when I've seen it come down like this in Texas before. Probably the closest we'll get to blizzard conditions. It is a steady sleet/snow in The Woodlands right now. I know I-45 is shut down in Conroe.
Not seeing the obligatory Frankie MacDonald YT clip on this storm but did find this one of him eating 50 pantomime corn dogs!
Truckers and wrecker drivers drive like animals. The good ones are the one that drive slow and with patience. I followed an 18 wheeler during an ice storm years ago from the north all the way to downtown.
I use this Transtar map; https://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers/ Looks like most overpasses are iced over so yeah...
I didn't get jack squat up here in North Texas for precip. It seems like it has been a while since I've seen any accumulation of ice or snow...which is strange as it used to be pretty regular each winter. Global warming, man!
WTF, did it seriously snow again. I couldn't even go check my mail, I don't know how those yankees deal with this.
When I moved to a winter climate, I got a Subaru and loved gunning it in the snow, up hills etc. Then like a dumb*** Texan I gunned it on ice and quickly learned AWD means chit in ice.
Not sure why we need the round-the-clock news coverage. It's f***ing cold. Stay the f*** home until at least tomorrow afternoon. Just finished making baked potato soup. It's between that and chili for cold day eatin. Went with the one that didn't require a store trip for ingredients.
Austin news was interviewing Yankees who haven't been here long and don't belong anyway. They were shocked that the city shuts down when there's a freeze. I was just thinking "you guys obviously don't know Austin". I made venison shepherd's pie for the first time. Not bad stuff at all.
