I think it's very good. Far Niente is owned by the Nickel family (of Nickel and Nickel) and they only put out one cab and one chard every year. Yes, it's a fairly expensive bottle -- maybe $80-100 for recent years, more for older
That's really cool. Our wine warehouse sometimes will carry STaggs leap and sometimes not. Same with the higher end type grocery stores. Justin is just about everywhere. L'Aventure is from the Paso Robles area. and is a really excellent wine. It's probably my favorite, but it is produced in very limited qualities. For the record, get ready in 2011. Sta Ynez had a great grape in 2009 so they should be maturing and ready for consumption in 2011. On my last trip up to wine country I went to a place called the wine ghetto. It's where a lot of the wineries have set up tasting rooms in an industrial park. I had some really good stuff up there, but maybe the best was from a keg that changes all the time, so the wine maker doesn't even say what's in it. They have one of red and one of white. When it's empty and different red or different white will take it's place. They have a deal where they sell you a generic bottle or jug and you can then refill it. We happened to catch a really good red. It sounds pretty shady but it was surprisingly delicious.
