That's true. I used to do windshield repair in Houston, under the name, Magic Glass. And I used to work with Insurance companies. A couple of things you want to look for in a glass replacement is a Warranty on the repairs. Believe it or not, Windshield replacements can have many things go wrong with it. They could F* up the seal. They could crack the glass at the edge and whatnot. I would find a reputable dealer. Then when the installer comes I would watch him like a hawk and tell him to watch out to not break the seal AND I would inspect the edge of the glass to make sure there are no hairline cracks on it. For repairs, I would try to find a specialist and not a big company, because a specialist will be better. The big companies are going to have a good repairman.
Safelite replaced my windshield. The first time I drove on a long distance trip I heard air noise. When you're scheduling an appointment, they're very helpful. When you're trying to get repairs under their lifetime warranty, they give you the run around...national says call local...local is overbooked and blames national etc. I finally took it in and they replaced the windshield again. I haven't tried it out. I gave them a low rating on their customer service card.
Yeah, that's what I was saying. These guys will rip your seal in a minute if you aren't careful. I would have them like a hawk. I windshield replacement is a very difficult repair to do right.

They have lifetime warranty so everytime I hear air noise, I'm taking it in...waste of time. They said that they usually don't replace a replaced windshield (they reseal it) but they were doing me a favor If I go back one more time, I'm changing insurance companies (those bastards referred me to Safelite). I need to get my own anyways!
