I have Windows 7. I had to have a HDD replaced because it crapped out so I was sent another with my warranty. The new HDD had windows 7 installed on it already which I decided to just use until MS decided to get their stuff right with windows 8 because some drivers just didnt work on it.

Now that its been awhile, I tried to put my disc in to install windows 8 again and it goes so far and once its time to fully finish the install I get this screen

Any idea what might be causing this particular issue?

why do you want to downgrade to windows 8? Nothing has been fixed.

Unless you have a touch screen, windows 8 is pretty irrelevant at best, and down right frustrating at worst.

I actually grew to like it, plus it was the native OS when I bought the PC

It takes up less resources and the customization options are nice.

Here are the other crash notes I got

    OS Version: 6_1_7601

Get out of here with that ridiculous BS. Windows 8.1 fixed a ton of things, and Windows 8 is selling at the same pace of Windows 7 despite Smart Phones and tablets being more prevalent now than when Windows 7 launched. Drastically slowing PC sales across the board - including Apple.

You don't like Windows 8? Fine... but don't talk out of your ass like it isn't used on nearly 200 million devices in less 18 months.

We can't view that image because we aren't logged in to the forum it is uploaded on.

Question - Are you trying to do an upgrade in place? Or a fresh install?

I run Windows 8.1 with a keyboard and mouse on multiple devices every day. It's a solid OS.

Do a fresh install. I wouldn't trust a manufacturer to send you a hard drive with windows pre-loaded on it and with the correct drivers.

I would immediately format it, pop in your windows 8 install disc from the BOOT MENU in the BIOS, and go from there. Also, while you're at it, throw away that HDD pop it in a PS3 or something and buy yourself a SSD.

The company that sent me the HDD is the computer company and it was free so I took it. I will eventually upgrade to a SSD when I have the money.

Anyway, im stumped on this one. Not really experienced in formatting and setting things up from scratch so I didn't bother messing with that.

I'd go with what Scionxa said. I'd recommend a fresh install.

It is pretty simple. When you get to the installation type window of the setup, choose "Custom" then select and delete all partitions (note, all data will be lost on the drive).

    Bump.

After signing in, the screen changes color and says "Please wait". I've left it for hours and no change.
I believe some people with the issue have related it to SkyDrive? I've turned off everything relating to SkyDrive and still nada.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah I could actually not even get to the custom install screen.

I called the company I got the computer from to try to troubleshoot this, and tried to reboot the Bios. I had to reset the CMOS so I removed the battery.

I had also removed both memory sticks to make sure that it wasnt a memory issue.

From the Bios I could not get the computer to start/boot up from the CD ROM so Im going to have to buy this version of windows again :/ probably digitally
