Since you have central air, to get down to 70-72, small window unit $200 (if your HOA allows it) + ceiling fan $50. I don't know how you have a room in Houston without a ceiling fan- that's just weird.

I have a similar issue in my office which is on the west side of my house and gets warm in the afternoon. Since it's a suburb special, the ductwork in my house sucks. I put a vent cover with a fan in this week and It's made a small difference but it's no where near 72:

Portable ACs are a PITA. Loud AF and there can be drain issues.

Split unit if you're looking for something permanent for a room that size. I put one in my garage and it's awesome.

She said she found someone on facebook and it keeps the whole living room cool and more. She paid $700 for everything

That's a really cool product. I have a room in my house that's at the far end of the house and it gets warm in the afternoon compared to the rest of the house.

I bet I can tap into power from my ceiling light and have the fan booster turn on whenever the lights are on in the room.

The room does have a fan but it broke and have not had a chance to replace with covid issues but should have it done within a week.

No HOA here (When did HOA's become a thing) going with window unit. Need to research vent cover fans.
