I have a suspicion we will be seeing Wemby and Giannis soon.

    Another guy that can’t shoot.

Udoka loves his 90s stupid ball

In the offseason, we will have plenty of pieces to match salary with Giannis ($58M):
    • Sengun at $35M
    • FVV at $25M
    • Jabari at $24M
    • DFS and Adams at $13M each
    • Reed and Amen at $11-12M each
    • Clint at $7M
Our best assets (in order of my estimate of their value) are Sengun, Amen, Reed, picks, and Jabari. Of the players listed, Reed and Jabari fit most seamlessly around Giannis. Fitting both Amen and Sengun around Giannis would be possible but tricky.

While I would love us to make a deal with a patchwork of salaries (Jabari, DFS, Adams, Clint, all the picks), I feel like MIL will need at least one premier player as part of their return.

In addition, we will want to field a team that can win around Giannis for many years. Sengun and Jabari are already on $25M+ deals, Amen is due for a near-max extension soon, and picks are a cheap way to get cost-controlled depth.

The most likely path is no deal, but if we step to the table with a compelling offer, I think it would be centered around Sengun, Jabari, and one or two picks, giving you a championship contending team of:
    Adams/Capela
    Giannis/DFS
    KD/Tari
    Amen
    FVV/Reed

Alternatively, if you believe Reed is ready to run the show and are unsure about paying Amen supermax money, you could do Amen, FVV, DFS, Capela/Adams + picks, and you are left with:
    Sengun/Adams
    Giannis
    Jabari/Tari
    KD
    Reed

Either way, team becomes much older and depth thins. Very tempting to go all-in with a duo of Giannis and KD, but it would hurt to lose the young guys we've seen grow into impact players

There is no chance you roll the dice with KD and Giannis. KD has not really been all that good this year. The rockets should really consider trading KD and picks for Giannis. Literally his worse year of his career. Lowest percentages he’s ever shot. I dunno if he has it in him anymore.

I never felt like Giannis made sense for this team unless you're giving up on Amen. I don't think Amen and Giannis pair together well at all. Really I don't think he pairs all that well with Sengun, but I think with Sengun shooting the 3 ball a little better it could possibly work. I don't think Giannis to Houston happens at this point.

    Nope.

Player in his 30s whose super reliant on athleticism and has started to miss games. Not interested.

If this were KD or Steph in his 30s sure...but Giannis is a uber athletic freak. Talented yes, all time great yes, but history shows that these players can decline RAPIDLY and that the cliff is often sharp. I mean we saw that with Dwight. One year an elite first team level player and then the next a fringe all-star center.

My GUESS (and it is a guess) is that this trajectory is the same as it is for Giannis just like it has been for Westbrook, Dwight, Rose, and other players whose game is reliant on athleticsm.

To be unbiased, the same is true for Amen as well...but Amen is 22 years old so its not a concern right now.

Fred, Amen, DFS, and Capela works salary-wise. Throw in the 2027 PHX pick and both 2029 picks plus another future pick. Four 1st rounders, Amen, and salary seems right.

PG: Sheppard / Holiday / Davison
    SG: Okogie / Tate
    SF: Durant / Smith, Jr.
PF: Antetokounmpo / Eason / Green
    C: Sengun / Adams

Giannis is the iso player with grinding defense that Ime loves. This is the move he and Stone have been waiting for. And even if it isn't perfect, you do this to keep him away from San Antonio too.

    No to Giannis...

Besides having to give up way too much, his game isn't going to age like fine wine...quite the opposite, as it's predicated on athleticism.
    We'd be shortening our window.

You really have it out for KD. As if we would trade him; why even bring it up?

Yes, playing ad hominem and having nothing to say about the substance of how stupid it is playing 90s long 2s ball in the modern era.

I would trade KD for Giannis. Our 3PT shooting would be a mess but you figure that out later. That's a longer championship window although our chances for this season would drop.

    I'd do Jabari + Eason + FVV + 2 FRP's + 1 swap for Giannis (in the summer).

That's about it. I'm not giving up Amen or Sengun unless it's for a generational talent in their prime. The Rockets, OTOH, may have other ideas. I think Udoka and Stone secretly love Giannis and would do a lot to bring him here.

Such an awkward fit for us but an all-time player is understandably hard to pass up. I don't think people realize just how historically productive Giannis is on a basketball court. He's every bit as impactful in a playoff series as any MVP - for now, at least. I wonder if his health and athleticism will hold up in his 30's because unlike KD he's not very skilled otherwise.

This isn't a video game. You can't just trade KD for Giannis.

I know we’d never trade him. I was just responding to a post about trading for Giannis. And that’s the only thing that would even make sense. Cuz this team isn’t a championship team with Giannis instead of Sengun. I love KD was a big fan of the trade but if you actually watch the games you know he’s the reason for our losses. The shooting has been subpar and the turnovers are back breakers.

If you could convince the Bucks to take FVV, Bari, and Tari and picks that would be ideal. Thats better than Castle, Sochan, whatever from the Spurs. SA isn’t giving up Harper for Giannis.

    Reed
    Amen
    Durant
    Giannis
    Sengun

The spacing might end up ruining everything, but that would be a helluva fun lineup to watch for the next three years.

I mean why would the Bucks entertain any offer that didn't include Sengun? And honestly why would we be asking after Giannis if not to send Alpe? They very much occupy the same space on the floor. Amen's shooting is a different story arc but I think he' fit with Giannis much the same way he fits with Sengun... which is kinda more reason not to trade either Amen or Sengun. I'm the Bucks I'm looking for Sengun, Eason, Reed and picks. I don'tt want Capela or vets, I'm rebuilding. MAYYYYBE Fred if you think he can come reset your culture like he did for Houston but that feels like quite the dice roll.

Let San Antonio have him. Gut their team to get a guy who's destined to fall off soon.
