[Windhorst] Daryl Morey is not done; is trying to get Melo and Paul George

Melo would basically have to come via a buyout and minimum or salary exception. But George I think could be acquired with a 3 way trade. I think Ryan Anderson could net a decent 2nd round pick and Ariza a decent 1st. So, if Indiana doesn't want to wait on Boston and Hayward, a deal where they get our 2020 1st, a decent 2018 1st, and a decent 2nd, plus (of course) the rights to Llull, that may be enough to get it done.

Then we would still be left with a team of Paul, Harden, Gordon, George, Melo, Capella, Nene, and what we could get with an exception or two.

From my Ear in LA , BG wants to win. With Harden, CP, Melo (possibly) and others, this is best chance. We will now have the personnel to beat those ghastly warriors.

Personally, as much as i don't like his immature e.g.o, I think he's grown. I'd take Melo to fill a need.

PG13 wants LA....he wants the lights, according to an agent friend of mine. He wants a brand he can't get in Indy.

Speaking of the Nets, we were in some negotiations with Brooklyn for the better twin (Not sideshow bob)

 

i've warmed to the idea of melo at the 4 spot as a knockdown shooter with the ability to cut and slash on occasion. he can also post up lighter defenders quite effectively. PG would have to replace ariza i think. and like you said, he's not at a place in his career and mindset right now where he can defer to harden and cp3 as easily.

 

I feel Melo is more realistic. I think Paul might convince him to get out of his deal in NY via a buyout but George is unrealistic since we don't have the required assets anyway.

 

Melo would play much better with CP and Harden.

Obviously PG. But Melo could be had for less.

You certainly know more than me/us but I think(or am hopeful) they bring Nene back. Mike mentioned him yesterday at the press conference. And Ariza reportedly helped recruit Paul and/or was a factor in Paul wanting to come here.

Paul George. 2-way player. Obviously a risk.

Carmelo as a fallback? As a buyout? Great. If not, I'd move Anderson for him.
