[Windhorst] Daryl Morey is not done; is trying to get Melo and Paul George

You mean Anderson for Melo and a 2nd round pick?

 

If we can get melo in a buyout than houston has a very very deep team.

Melo/Anderson
Capela/nene

That's one hell of a 9 man rotations.

Not saying it's better than golden state but the talent from 5-9 is better.

How sweet would it be to have your two big offseason acquisitions from last year that helped you win 55 games, both coming off the bench?

Ryno, Gordon and nene is an extreamly deep and talented reserve unit.

And your starting lineup is maybe the second best offensive team of all time to the Warriors.

I want melo he would play great off harden and cp3 maybe even better than Paul George, even if PG13 gives us a higher ceiling melo might be the better fit especially if we can keep all the guys we currently have.

 

No chance NY buys out Melo for $45 million... but he certainly could force his way here if he wanted (but don't forget he got Dantoni fired in NY) simply by saying he will only waive his no trade clause if they trade him here. Which could help us get him for cheap just like CP3 did to the Clips

 

So like, what's the timeline for our next move?

I think we have to accept that we are not getting a third star unless Knicks accept Ryno for Melo or Melo gets bought out, and neither are looking likely.
Now I know I claimed Paul would never pick us over the Spurs, so what I say means di*k all, but that was before we even had to surrender Bev, Lou, Dekker and our first rounder. You guys must be on the same page as me in thinking this, no?? We've at least come to accept Paul George coming here is not possible, right?

I've always thought it would be very hard to move Anderson without giving up a valuable asset, or taking back a bad contract. I mean, we gave up a first round pick to move Jeremy Lin. Anderson will be much harder to move.

 

windy reported earlier we sent indy an offer and they declined but morey was working on a new offer... gordon was one of the players talked about, so don't rule anything out

 

Our best package would be Ariza + Capela + a boatload of non-guaranteed contracts for George. The Chris Paul package trumps that and CP was able to walk away and leave them nothing. Celtics can trump that, Lakers can trump that, Cleveland can trump that.

Melo I would say there is still a chance, but not a great one.

 

people think they know what the best package is for a said scenario, yet when a trade actually happens its pretty different then what was predicted nor really thought of

 

I thought packaging Dekker with Ryno was the way to go.
