    I've always said before... however, certain people can't seem to understand why Cuttino wasn't staring at the shot clock 24/7. ;)

    You are correct - the wording is superfluous - it should not need to contain the word retain. What would happen if, after the jump ball, there was no clear possession? Should the clock then be set back to what it was before the jump, even if it was less than 14 seconds?

    Hmm. Very confusing. What is not confusing is that Cuttino should have checked the clock. The Cat - stop baiting me ;)
