When was the last time a NBA team played the season to develop young players? Teams that do anything like that become the Atlanta Hawks.

I have to say this is a stupid and meaningless thread/topic. It is a no-brainer poll in fact.

For players like Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Rafer Alston, Mike James, Bonzi Wells, Shane Battier, Luis Scola that are all within the age group of 27 ~ 30+ and in particularly Deke Mutombo, it is of course, NOW OR NEVER !!

Talk about development mode later when we trade away our star players in exchange for more talented and young players that's worthy of development....

We are too stacked to not be in a 'win now' situation. I say win now.. and next year.. and the year after that.. and the year after that too.. and the list goes on. But hey.. can't always get everything I want.

The 19 people that voted for the development strategy should be booted out of this forum due to sheer stupidity.

If Rick Adelman does not play Brooks for at least 20 minutes a game I will be the first to start the "Fire Adelman!!!" thread. :)

Brooks, Landry, Novak, Harris, Butler? Oh, our late first round pick, second round picks and undrafted free agents? Yeah, those are the kind of guys you want to hinder your season in order to find minutes for.

That's no indictment against any of those guys either. I hope they do well and find minutes but to suggest we "find" minutes for them and stall our season is completely senseless. Jobs are lost this way. Expectations are not met this way. Fan intelligence is lowered this way.

Actually, the thread topic was intended to pin down what people say so, if the Rockets have a good season but don't win the title, people don't come back and b**** about how Adelman wasted a year by not developing enough guys cuz the Rockets never had a shot a the title.

Why would they re-sign Mutombo, Francis, Hayes and Wells, trade for Mike James and pick up a 27 year old veteran rookie if they aren't trying to win now?
