there's a name for this process Dr. basketball..

it's called Trading for an INKNOWN COMMODITY :D

by the way, to the starter of the thread: this question isn't important right now, what you should be asking right now is whether Tmac is a Point Forward or not? :D

I really belive yes. We have depth team, solid rotation, good shooters around and to healthly superstars. That's everythin' the real championship-caliber team needs. Plus a great heart of course. So that year should be big for the Rockets' and I will be

I'm pretty sure the thread topic was intended to mock people who whined incessantly for years about developing young trash heaps based on personal preference. So I guess with you going for it hook line and sinker, it would be hard for me to add much to the thread topic.

Anyone who thinks the Rockets are not in "win now" mode have not been paying attention. Our effing motto is "ITS TIME".

    Please.

We didn't really have talent to develop last year and yet people were all for playing deeper down the bench...

    That was excessively hostile.

This year- get to the Western Conference finals and quit.

Next year- use that experience to win the finals.

The thread idea is not dumb. However, we are a veteran team. We are not in a rebuilding mode and we don't really have that much young talent to develp as RIET says.

I think that's the best attitude to have, while we try to trade vet players they don't fit into roster right now or become unhappy with their role with Rockets for not other veteren players....but draft picks and young player who do not have alot of playing time. Which is reason why the Spurs, Mavs, and Suns are still fairly good teams....that not only have one superstar, but they're able to find great complimentary players who have became great contributors and even all-stars.

The Spurs team from the 99 season look nothing like 03 and 05 teams, except Duncan and that's it.

The Mavs from 02-03 look nothing like the team that went to finals or last year team.

The Suns look different from where they they were 3 seasons ago.

I believe all of the team's best players (with exception of the one or two superstars) usually get younger.

I think Morey knows there needs to be a balance between having good vets and unproven rookies and young players.

There shouldn't a big debate about that.

We are in 90% win now mode, but our GM has provide us with one or two players who will be here in about 5 or 6 seasons (outside of Yao and T-Mac).

surprisingly, I voted for the minority here. and i think its because the second option i guess is closer to what I feel- i think a few words need to be changed

first off- im afraid of a short rotation. i know adelman has been known to keep one, but with so much talent on this team, you got to keep guys fresh and throw different looks at teams, you GOT to. morey didnt pull all these deals to see guys rot on the bench.

secondly- the young guys need SOME playing time. not garbage time, not major minutes, but they need to play against some real competiton. why? its the nba. we see every year how guys get injured. one wrong move, a guys back is messed up, or he has an elbow smashing his nose, or he has a freak leg injury. then what? it takes a herculean effort by another player to carry his team. he gets so worn out because he has to do so much cause the other guys dont have the playing experience, they're learning on the job.
now i know the argument here is that people think im just talking about JVGs system or our luck in the past years, but its the case around the league. you cant just come in right away and take up the court against teams in this league or else theyll run you out of the stadium by halftime. you have to develop chemistry.

third- yall will kill me for this.
i think we are a year away from winning it all. (now stop. dont attack my loyalties to this organization, ive given this team my heart since the day I remember. i want nothing more than to be standing on main street come june and watch our guys ride on by us with that beautiful hardware.) we need to really get ourselves rollin. while we sure as hell arent rebuilding, SA really is that good. and we have got to get scola adjusted to the nba, and a good enough pg that will keep us running. we need patience, chemistry, and development. cause there are always injuries in the L unless ur superman or u have a "D-E-T-R-O-I-T" sewn on to the front of your jersey.

Absolutely win now, we're getting deeper and deeper players on the roster each passing year. Win now mode.

things that contribute to my decision:

Tracy's Back and love for baseball
Tall center's like Yao don't last that long.

I suppose that everyone who voted NO was being sarcastic or what?!
This team is a title contender,I'm not optimistic even Gilbert Arenas said that.
