Lisicki was in total control of that final set( even down 3-0, a pusher will always let you back in the match if you have power and go for your shots), Lisicki had the match on her racqet, if Radwanska was gonna win, it was gonna be because of Lisicki made 4 unforced errors to gift her the match. Radwanska wasnt in any of Lisicki's service games once Sabine settled down. Meanwhile Randwanska fought tooth and nail just to hold on her service games, because Lisicki's power was dictating the points. Bartoli another power hitter beat Sloane Stephens in a similar fashion, most pushers are weak and cant handle pace, and topspin. They have no mph on their serves and power hitters can crush it, Serena was very first i have seen stand in on the FIRST serve, and now you see players like Kerber, Sharapova, Lisicki and others doing it now
Radwanska wasnt gonna break Lisicki, it was only a matter of time until she felt the pressure to hold service, when you hold your serve easier than your opponent in a set that has no tiebreak, you have the advantage 90% of the time
Don't miss the Janowicz-Murray match tomorrow. Jerzy is the most exciting young player in tennis and an absolute menace on grass. Picture Ivanisevic with more mobility and aggression. Still expect Djoker to win it all.
That was an insane match. Too bad there had to be a loser. Both guys really played well. Del Potro gave it more than I've ever seen him do. Novak was lucky he brought his best serves this match. Did he end up with 24 aces or something close to that? Some really great shots from both guys. This one was a classic.
Feared that Lisicki would crumble, she's too nervous in big matches. Sabine is young though, hope she learns to play more calm under the spotlight.
The men's final is high drama and has provided some fun swings of momentum, but pretty tennis it is not. I've never cared for these two playing against each other because they have such similar styles, which is unfortunate because I think we'll see plenty of these two in big matches in the future.
If you are watching the post-match coverage on ESPN, it's easy to see how desperate that country was for a major winner. At least France has had several very good players since Yannick Noah won the French Open and Australia had Lleyton Hewitt who never won in Australia, but won at other majors. GB really hadn't had a whole lot in the way of championship material before Andy Murray came along. Tim Henman was a really popular player that the British badly wanted to be better than he really was. Then there was Greg Rusedski, who was really Canadian, but whatever.
