Impossible to determine. No one knows whether he'll bounce back from the injury and how his running ability will be if he plays again.
I should say offensive to some since last night as you say Miami fans were saying career over as well.
I was one of those who said his career was over last night. I admit it was a knee-jerk overreaction to a horrible video clip that still won't exit my mind. As I walk around my apartment watching the Colts game, I find myself clutching my knee and thinking about suffering some type of injury during my running (sort of like a freaky premonition psychologically tied into that gruesome injury). I was quick to say he was going to be done.
Okay, here I go offending everyone again, but... nice word choice, drapg. Is that some sort of medical term for this? Sorry, y'all know I mean this guy the speediest of recoveries.
By career over I meant he'll never be the same and he'll be reduced to a backup role...best case scenario. But Fernandez doesn't allow that. I mean, the ref did take 10 minutes to throw the flag.
oh ****, I didn't even notice that. Its kinda funny in a devestatingly sick way now that I think about it (since it was totally subconscious and wasn't supposed to be a play on words)
I really think our heads work like that a lot of the time. All kinds of unconscious and/or subconscious stuff roiling up under the radar. At least I know I'm always doing that (when I talk more than when I type). And thanks for the McCallum ref up there.
based on that pic, he probably tore his BCL, CCL, DCL, and all the other CLs....... I hope he he recovers in time to play next year
There would be a possibility that no team would draft him. Draft picks in football are too valuable to use on that much of a risk. In the time of free agency and salary caps, the draft is about the only way to get affordable players to fill roster spots, and I don't know too many teams that could use one on somebody that has a good chance of never playing again. Then again...if his potential is so high that a team may be willing to take a guy like that and wait a year or two...and use a 6 or 7th round pick on him...but most teams would take a running back that would come into camp and could actually work out and try to make the team.
The picture reminds me of Ed Mccaffrey's injury last year when he broke his kneecap on MNF and was out for 8 months. It's the look of the lower leg being disconnected from the upper leg... Bryant Young's broken leg looked gruesome a couple years back as well on MNF when he was out for around 10 months. It's sad to see a guy in just one play go from possibly the 1st running back taken in the draft to a career with a big question mark hanging over it.
Terrible on what happened tonight. Millions of dollars were just a few months away for the kid. Now hes going to have to work his butt off to get back where he was and even that may not be enough. Hopefully he can recover like Lee Suggs has but this sounds more serious.
I saw a guy in college that had almost the same thing happen to his leg(It was on you gotta see this!). He broke it and could not walk for a couple months. I hope mgahee can come back and its not nearly as serious as this other guy.
I think it would be crazy for him to come out. Isn't salary based on draft position? Plus once he declares wouldn't he be ineligible to play college ball? It's best for him to stay at Miami where he is on scholarship. He'll redshirt in '03 and still have two years left. Hopefully he'll recover enough to where he'll be drafted high, but I don't think he'll ever be top 5.
I don't know if he can redshirt, unless the NCAA gives him a hardship exemption, because he will be a 4th year junior for 2003.
I don't see why they wouldn't.......but don't those come after the senior year? So in essence we won't really know for 2 more years.....I'm pretty sure this is the case for Jason White, not sure about McGahee though.
