When your head coach says he's dreaming of a center that rebounds its not a good indicator of an effective big man.

OK, those are decent rookie stats, but it seems like the 5-6 times I saw him play, the guy was a worthless slug. Effort and hustle are key for big men and Lopez doesn't have a motor. Guys like him don't have huge upsides. Plus, a C putting up 13/8 on that sorry Nets team in garbage games didn't impress me. I remember some of the threads back then and my major point was how would he play if games were more competitive and actually meant something. I guess we know.

t_mac1, he will never change. Players don't acquire heart and desire after playing 3 years in the NBA. His skills and technique might improve, but don't expect Brooke Lopez to play with energy 82 games per season. Not gonna happen. AJ going ballistic on him won't help. (For that matter, AJ going ballistic on anyone doesn't help).

Bottom line: The Nets could do a lot worse at C. If they want to contend, they need an elite PF next to Lopez or use him as trade bait for Dwight Howard.

Lopez, is a good trade piece, but lost some value do to his poor reboundinng and overall poor performance this past season. So trading him for a Star may be get a little tricky.

With that said, they can always do the second best thing, and thats add border line All-Stars ... so I propose:

Scola and Martin for Lopez + filler.

This move could attract another Super Star via Free Agency(Dwight Howard) to the Nets.

While the Rockets get a legit, young, 7'0 center with upside.

Being a "BUST" is very different from being "disappointing"! Brook Lopez is disappointing, but far from being a "BUST"! Besides since when is the leading scorer on a NBA team a "BUST"?
