Reading the title I thought this was about T-Will. If he wants too leave to form a super friends with other players that would suck for fans and the NBA. But if it means the Jazz will never a title i'm for that!
signing a contract where you want and holding a team hostage to get to your preferred destination are two separate issues. this is the nba, not the average business atmosphere. I'm damn good at what I do, but I'm not in a position to demand that my employer trade me to a larger and more prestigous company. i want parity in the league. i want a diversified talent base. when a home town player demands a trade from his home team something is wrong. color me old, but this really is the entitled generation. they don't want to work for a damn thing, they just wanted it handed to them. let me pick the three best players to play with and let me go there. Minnesota has no chance to keep love now. they can't even bring over rubio. Granger is as good as gone in Indiana. Orlando is already scared they are losing Dwight. should i go on? for some this may be acceptable, but to me, it is killing my interest in the nba and being able to follow a team from development to realization.
It doesn't have anything to do with changing players' "feelings". And the issue with fans is NOT limited to players asking to be traded before their contract is up. Neither LeBron nor Wade nor Bosh asked to be traded before their contracts were up. If you don't think a franchise tag would dramatically change the dynamics of NBA free agency, I think you are mistaken. Players would still complain, indeed, but their expectation of it doing any good would be diminished.
