I'm pulling for a Denver/Orlando Finals. Not because I like either one of those teams, but I think it would be funny if the NBA had to promote that series instead of Kobe vs. LeBron, which of course is what they're banking on. IF the Fakers make it to the finals, it might be fun to watch the Cavs run all over them, though.
Honestly, this is my prediction for the NBA Finals. I know the media always predicts the favorites to win, but I think Orlando has a more talented team than Cleveland, and Denver has been on a roll. Nuggets have a more balanced lineup and their bench brings energy and excitement to the game. Orlando plays solid defense and their versatility creates mismatches for Cleveland.
I'm DEFINITELY the type that prefers my team losing to the eventual champion rather than losing to a sorry team that gets swept or blown out the next round. Like in college sports rankings, strength of schedule and opponent makes you better. But its a tad different with this Lakers team...not an easy one to root for. I actually like seeing greatness. Years ago I WANTED the Patriots to go undefeated instead of some weak Giants team beating them. I just can't get behind anything Kobe Bryant does for whatever reason...
Are you kidding me? I hate the Lakers with every bone in my body. It would be like rooting for the Jazz after they beat us the last two years. No way, dude. I hope denver smokes LA, and Cleveland wins the whole thing.
this is a silly reason to root for them IMO.... the reason is because once this years champion is crowned, no one will remember or care about the rockets going to a game 7. quick, who lost in the 2nd round in the west in 1991 ????!!!!! who cares ? this team won't be looked back on at all, aside from a few rocket fans. so no, i will not be rooting for the damn fakers
I'd rather pull for my left testicle falling off than pull for the Lakers. As for our showing against them counting in our attractiveness to free agents- they're the Lakers, one of the "elite" teams in the NBA. They don't need to win a title for our hustle to look good.
Hell no. I'm a Cavs fan now... maybe an Orlando fan... not sure. I can't be a Denver fan because I can't stand George Karl and I can't like the Celtics because... well they're the Celtics.
The only time Ive rooted for the lakers was in round 1 against the Jazz, but even then I would rather they all had gotten suspended or injured.
I don't really know who to root for. No to Lakers or Cavs because it would make me feel the league is rigged. No to orlando because they'd win a championship before Houston does after the t-mac trade. I guess that leaves Denver. *sigh* Denver it is
.... When hell freezes over, when gold-diggers don't marry ballers and bankers for their money, when Donald Trump comes out and says money doesn't mean everything and gives up all of his fortunes, when pigs learn how to fly, when LA is overly populated with bad drivers and drug dealers, when Congress starts to believe in sound monetary policy and not over spend (over tax its citizens), when I wake up one morning as blonde chick in high heels, and when Arnold Schwarznegger becomes an actor as good as Laurence Olivier. Then, I might consider it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I would've rooted for Portland if they had beaten us, becasue they are a like-able team with no jackasses. The lakers are a different story, they have a mix of egomaniacs (kobe) jackasses (Ariza and Odom) and cry babies (vujacic) so hell no I won't root for them.
lakers are always on my "hate" list every season. denver is the "thuggets" to me. so i am rooting for a watchable series, with drama (like technicals and stuff) all over the series.
Root for the Lakers?? WTF, as John McEnroe would say, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!" I think I would rather root for the Jazz than the Lakers. Their smugness and obnoxiousness is too much to take, IMO. I am hoping that the Nuggets absolutely piledrive them into submission. If they thought we gave them problems, just wait until they have to play a team with a skilled big man like Nene which they have not seen since Game 3 of our series and Nene actually has great footspeed for a big man unlike our Yao. Plus their bench will absolutely murder the Lakers with J.R. Smith (why do the Nuggets only play Dahntay Jones like 15 minutes a game? It's a waste), Kleiza, Carter, and the Birdman. Hell, you can make the argument that their 2nd 5 is about as good or even better than what the Rockets started the last 4 games against the Lakers. But even if the Lakers luck up (which they probably will) and win this series, I don't see them having any chance of winning in Cleveland and that is all Cleveland has to do - is win every game on their home court and they will be the NBA champion.
