    I believe Kagy is right on this one. I had a tax liability in 2000 because I had income. Just because I overpaid that liability and received a refund as a result does not mean I did not have a tax liability.

    Um, it was from CNN.

    From the link you sited, it sounds like I would be able to claim it as a deductable for 2001 if I did not recieve a refund for that year also. (which I did and which would also exempt me from the refund/rebate)

    I'M SO CONFUSED!!!!

    Come on! Any tax people out there that can clear this up?

    Hmm. Frankly, I pray I won't need Social Security either, but I sure as heck won't give it back to the government if I don't need it. I'll give it to charity.
