Any major starter having fatigue issues is going to cost us in the playoffs. I think Yao's issue with never getting calls while being fouled up and down the court will hurt us more, then him just being tired from running.
He was mocking you and quite frankly you deserve to be mocked at. Yao doesnt play 8 minutes in a game and you dont expect him to be tired according to your original post. Can you link a vid of a 7'6" guy running for that amount of time. You act as if he is supposed to be immune to sweating and tiredness.
Yep, there were way too many times where the Rockets got a defensive rebound, ran down and took just long enough for Yao to run to the top of the key before throwing up a shot, not get the rebound, and forcing Yao to run back on defense immediately. Not really the best use of what energy reserves he has.
this was the new game plan since rafer was traded. adelman asked the pgs to run the ball up and find a quick scoring opportunity. if not, then set up yao. yao doesnt need to run up the court like the rest of the team.
yao is averaging 33.5 minutes per game this year. that's closer to the low minutes he played earlier in his career. relax. if fatigue is a problem, well, what can u do? every starter is expected to play 37-40 minutes in the playoffs.
Me too,but actually when the defense is more tight in the game,Scola cant play one on one and creat chances for other teammates. He only got 4pt VS suns and got 4fouls.
Yao played the whole 3rd quarter and the first 2-3 minutes of 4th, if I remembered correctly - he was sub by Duke when he committed the 4th foul; otherwise Coach Adelman would not take him out. I have pointed out more than once that Yao would be tired out if he played continuously for more than a quarter. He is what he is and Coach Adelman has to take that into account and manage Yao's minutes wisely if he wanted Yao to perform effectively in the 4th.
Adlam wants to make Rox' games faster and faster, which need Yao run faster and faster and always running, it's the great problem cuase Yao phisical tired.
If the other teammates canould get better to catch Suns' score-steps in the game, Adalm neednt let Yao stay in the court too long time.
Well, this is the best I've seen Yao in terms of stamina and health this late in the season. Adelman couldn't have done a better job managing Yao's minutes this year. As other posters have pointed out, we can't try to match speed with speed when Yao's on the court, like we did in the last Jazz game. Controlling the pace to maximize Yao's effectiveness will be even more important during the playoffs.
exactly, yao is actually not as good as some of us expect him to be, at least he isn't a team-savior like Kobe Bryant.
regardless of offensive strategies...50 year old shaq is quicker, has better hands, and more stamina than our gentle giant...
Yes, if he is fatigued in the playoffs, we will pay the ultimate price. It seemed to me like all of the transactions and "mishaps" this year have been done for yao to show us that this is his team and get us to the next level, which for now is playoff advancement. This is what you play for. Fatigue should not be an issue. In the playoffs, a superstars coatail is gonna be ridden night in and night out. This yr, we do have enough depth to where others can step up and help unlike in yrs past. But when we need that big bucket in the 4th qtr of a close out gm, he should be there to deliver, or make his teammates better. He has to want this. That is what a killer instinct is. I think that his playoff showing this year will go a long way in his overall assessment of how he is viewed in the league. I really dont think there is any excuse this yr.
