I agree. Dreaming a championship with the selfish SF as point guard and the inflexible RudyT as Head Coach is just like hoping the Sun will rise from the West. What we need is "Trust" amongst all Rockets players. If this is not required, the Lakers would have started winning championships once they had Bryant and O'Neal. In any case, SF and Yao combined can't match Bryant and O'Neal at least now.

Don't forget if Yao decided to leave with China's endorsement, I don't think Houston Rockets is in a position to stop him, politically speaking. Also, I guess both China, NBA and Yao's fans would like to see Yao playing in a play-off team, rather than in a losing team like the Houston Rockets. I am sure if the Rockets continue with their selfishness, they won't be above 0.50, not to mention a play-off team.

As everyone here said, if Rox does not improve, Yao must be an idiot to stay. But at least you will stay and watch ugly, stupid BBall with your hard earn money.

You must be new to NBA. "RESTRICTED FREE AGENCY" only means the Rockets can match any amount other team offer Yao. But Yao can choose to sign just one year deal after 3 years, then walk away after the 4th. But I predicted him saty.

Not if the rocks reach the playoffs and show the "potential" they possess. The rocks must show they are a good team.

It is the situation Elton Brand is in now. He would not take any offer since Clipper could simply match them. EB would probably sign another year and then get out of there while Clipper get nothing.

wow the ignorance shown in this thread is appalling.

first, yao is signed with us for 4 years, he ain't going anywhere for 3 more years. we will have the opportunity to sign him to a 6 year extension after his third year the way we did francis. the rockets weren't winning or anything yet steve stayed. players don't just up and switch teams for nothing. things will have to go seriously wrong for yao to not stay here. and can none of y'all look ahead even a little. steve is so selfish, wah wah, current style, wah wah, only barely 500 wahh wahh. 3 years is a long time. the rockets have nothing but upside and will presumably be much improved in 3 years. even if smartness doesn't improve, simple ability will and we'll have a better record. players don't just up and leave successful teams in today's nba. hell cwebb was practically begging to leave sactown and he's still there. pierce, carter, steve, baron davis are all still with there original teams. as i said, unless things go terribly wrong, we will improve and yao will stay the way most players do b/c they're comfortable with their current team and, hey, we can offer him the most money.

Isn't there a max of 4mil on the matching thing? over the 4mil, he can sign with whomever he wants to. No team will have problem paying Yao more than 4mil a year, I believe.

Only Rox would sign SF for max. He does not deserve it. SF is lucky to get his extension before Yao came in.

Rox will let Yao go simply because Rox is a one-on-one team and Yao isn't qualified.

It's not worth being negative anymore, now that everybody has jumped on the negativity bandwagon...

Remember, I was pessimistic before being pessimistic was cool. :D

This is a ridiculous poll! Let's try something original like will Calvin Murphy be the next coach? who cares right now. This is 4 years away.

Post should be locked for lack of originality and lack of real substance and general boredom factor.

He's not going anywhere. He developed a lot faster than projected. The Rockets had something to do with that don't you think.

I believe a lot of people here think he's developed despite the Rockets, not because of. And I am not against this view to be very honest.

Wow, a Yao-fans meeting! How cute!

    Question:

If Yao is this great player and will continue to be for the next 3 years of his contract, but the team remains mediocre and under-achieving, wouldn't the Rockets being the one asking themselves if they should resign Yao?

I mean, he obviously wouldn't be good enough to elevate the team to superiority, so why resign him right?

And in the Boy Scout tradition of always "being prepared", I come with the requisite retorts:

Steve & Cat are too stupid (your opinions, not mine) to pass the ball - Yao should be demanding the ball next year, PERIOD. Be civilized at home, in America Yao has to be aggressive and forceful. And besides, he's the center for crying out loud, he's the anchor and the dictator of all the action! Ask Dream about being "The Man."

Griffin sucks too much to keep defenses honest - Have faith that, with better depth, if Griffin doesn't develop any further he'll be in another city. Ditto for everyone else, including Francis. Really, this isn't Yao's problem or concern, Rudy & Co. have to address it.

Unfortunately Yao fans, I think your hero is "doomed" to spend most if not all of his career with the lowly Rockets.

Sleep with the lights on tonight, maybe you can hold "Teddy" as you cry yourselves to sleep.

this post is the worst i have ever even heard of... like yao and his agent have that much power:p

they dont this is the nba... let me say that again... THIS IS THE NBA, you should really learn that concept over any other thing you have tought yourself about this game

read about the colective bargaining agreement( i dont think i spelt that too well but i dont care:p )

that is why this post is a waste of time and space, he will be a rocket for at least 7 years of his nba career, after that he can go anywhere he wants, but untill that he is ours all ours and all you mad yao diseased people will just have to live with it... ha ha

All you Yao-people really need to learn some things about this organization:

    1) Houston has an EXCELLENT reputation as a model organization throughout the NBA on ALL levels. Players, owners, and executives all around the NBA recognize this and respect the Houston Rockets.
    2) Houston has a reputation as a club that players WANT to play for. The Rockets have this reputation as an organization, and Rudy, CD, and the rest of the staff have the same reputation with players and their peers around the league.

There is absolutely no friggin' way in all hell the Rockets will let Yao go, and something BEYOND drastic would have to happen for Yao to demand a trade or refuse to sign, and I'm talking Clipper and Cavalier-level stupidity here. Yao and Steve are the only untouchables on this team, and I dare say that they would get rid of Francis before they would get rid of Yao.

Quit b****ing. This is a relatively young team that added a [bMAJOR[/b] piece to its puzzle playing in the toughest half (Western Conference) of the highest level anywhere in the world.

Ya'll are embarrassing yourselves. Just shut up.

I have always believed that ourt Guards would never work out with Yao Ming, as they have their own agenda for the development of themselves as their primary focus. Yao Ming dosent stand a chance of ever reaching his potential with the Rockets while our guards wont work towards a Center dominated team. When Yao Ming wakes up to the fact that he has been duped by his team and teamates he will want to get himself into another situation or return to the Sharks in China.
PS This is not what I want to happen, its just a calimity waiting to happen. It can be avoided by Les Alexander taking control of his team and making the adjustments that are needed- Trade Yao Ming OR Trade or reposition Francis. Memphis would give us just what we want for Yao Ming.
