You know EG has career averages of 8.5PPG 6RPG and 1.6BPG. S. Swift, who we have been salivating over as a FA, has a career average of 9.1PPG 5RPG and 1.5BPG. He does have a substantially higher FG%, but EG takes a lot more 3s (and hits a respectiable 33-34%). EG is also 22, and Swift is 25 (note: Swift's performance this year is only slightly over his career av). In the end, no we won't consider EG and he won't consider us, but it has little to do with his current attributes as a player or his potential--just bad history and the wrong home fit on both sides.
If EG had his head screwed on right, didn't jack up all those threes and had a decent midrange jumper we'd be salivating over him too.
Comparing Swift and EG is like apples to oranges. EG is supremely tallented and gets his stats from that fact, he would only need to bust his a$$ to be a star in this league. Swift on the other hand, busts his a$$ to get his stats with the help of his athleticism. I will always take the hard worker over the slacker because you never know when the slacker will just up and quit. (or shoot at somebody)
Maybe in terms of these things-- But certainly not in terms of relative youth, relative strengths and weaknesses as a current player, size and athletic gifts as a 4, and even PRODUCTION--which is how most players get judged.
