Wtf? Battier is here because he got traded here. Hayes is here, because he's a hustle guy and we are thin at the pf spot. Also, it's not like there were a ton of teams lining up for hayes.

Given that we are 1/5 through the season, and the trade deadline is about a month and a half away, Id say things dont look good for Bonzi.
And honestly I didnt see him sticking around after this year anyway, so lets hope we get something good for him.

i didnt mean that battier and hayes were signed here as free agents

I am saying that If a player is willing to put in the yards and the hardwork for the betterment of the team, they shouldnt worry about thier court time and that they might get traded away (which was your argument), hence if a player knows that, he will be willing to come to houston because he #1 knows he is giong to be in the rotation, #2 knows that he may get a shoe contract #3 knows that he has a legtimate shot at the ring

I'm not sure Van Gundy will stay or go... the season is long and there's plenty of time for the Rockets to either achieve or underachieve.

I doubt Van Gundy will be fired just so they can retain Wells on a decent-sized contract, though.

Morey knows his math about what happens to players as they head into their 30s-- that's why the most they offered Mike James was MLE for the 4 years.

Wells is a decent player just like James, but he's also 30 years old, and has a history of weight/injury problems. I'm sure Morey knows better than to committ himself to potentially overpaying a 33-34 year old Bonzi Wells.

It implies that they are trying to trade Wells and JVG doesn't want to damage an ASSet.

 I seriously doubt that when any player signs with the Rockets, they are thinking of a shoe contract.........most likely they are thinking of an NBA championship.
