It boils down to if Lakers could land Kawhi in a trade within the next 48 hours. LeBron will most likely join the lakers bears they didn't trade everyone on the roster away for Kawhi. PG is heading back to OKC and Lebron doesn't want to drag the process out. So Lebron prolly knew what PG is doing. If Spurs stay put with kawhi, we may have a shot at trading for Lebron. Of course if PG opt out his final year with OKC then decided to go to Lakers, Lebron is there too. But I don't see it that way as why would Lakers engaging Spurs agsin with trade talk if PG is going there. Lakers won't have enough for 3 players max without gutting the team and get rid of Deng.
@aelliott clarified by posting the CBA language. Looks like we have until tomorrow at 11:59 EST to have a deal struck.
If you’re hoping there is still a chance Lebron comes to Houston, then he has to be traded to us tonight, not just an opt in. There is ZERO chance Lebron opts in and expects the Cavs to make good on eventually trading him to his preferred destination. No one would take that big of a risk with their career, most certainly not Lebron.
