It does sound a whole lot like wishful thinking on your part, but we'll see. If Democrats give voters an actual reason to vote for them instead of running on "vote against X" then maybe they'll have a chance to pull that off.
That was chuckle worthy... but so many people I know that voted Trump and followed it up by saying "He will hire the best and brightest" to surround him. What a dumpster fire.
Heck I know someone who was convinced he'd be able to use his construction contacts to get "the best deals" on building the wall lol. She was convinced he wouldn't even need Congress to do it, would just deal directly with private businesses.
There's 23 House Republicans in Clinton-won districts. The majority of those are in Clinton-won states.
I know just what you're talking about. The self-induced fantasies some of the trump supporters concoct in their attempt to justify not only their vote for the man, but what trump has done since the election, can range from amusing in their naivety, to the out right bizarre.
My favorite moment... "favorite" used sarcastically to mean my lowest moment... post-election was my annoying coworker. She was really tired on election night and kept falling asleep as the results were coming in. She was watching with her Trump supporting husband... Wednesday morning she described the scene at her house: "My husband kept nudging me up saying, 'Wake up! History is being made! History is being made!'" History? History? A rich, white guy runs for President of the US and he's acting like it's Neil Armstrong taking one giant leap for mankind. The delusion is just so ingrained. It's so deep. That group? They're still 100% behind him.
This is so like the liberals on this board. They can't win by votes so they resort to attempt legal maneuvering to get their way. The guy hasn't been investigated for doing anything wrong. Wasn't under investigation and was legally democratically elected to president. So mad that others deign to disagree with your politics. Suck it up crybabies. Give him a chance to implement his policies and then run better elections.
Implement his policies? Building an unneeded and mostly unwanted border wall? Tax cuts for the wealthy, paid for by robbing Medicaid? An un-Constitutional travel ban that does nothing to fight terrorism? Destroying the EPA by putting in charge someone who'd wipe all the hard drives clean of scientific study if Obama hadn't made sure the data was preserved somewhere? Crippling our ability to deal with the world by hamstringing the State Department? Or maybe you just admire that he's just an out-and-out mega-narcissistic slime, horrific liar, canker sore of a human being? Can't wait to read your garbage when this Russian investigation catches up to him, try as he might to derail it. Also can't believe anyone, anyone, besides Jared Kushner and his children would support him.
He may just weary of the snarling dogs constantly nipping at his heels. I voted no but he might gut it out but the polls would have to swing his way and I don't think the media is about to let that happen.
You are talking to an increasing number of elected Republicans, by the way. Might want to read up on what everyone is saying. There aren't many, of any party, who think it isn't important to investigate the Russian tampering. And there really aren't that many who accept Trump's stated reasons for firing Comey at this particular time. "Suck it up crybabies" sounds good, and it's simple, and yes, people can whine in politics. But you should care if a foreign government colluded with a political campaign. Let's disprove it, make sure Russia doesn't screw around with our future elections and move on. I'm all for that. I think Trump could be clean and just too sensitive to criticism and negative attention. But firing investigators isn't a good way to accomplish disproving any wrongdoing and moving forward, right? It's very... Manuel Noriega or something.
The FBI is conducting an investigation and has testified as much. Not sure where you are getting your information. I do agree that he was legally democratically elected however that does not mean that he didn't break the law before the election. We'll see. I hope that's the case. The best thing for the GOP House is if Trump resigns and Pence takes over.
I am wondering about Pence. I guess part of his "ickiness" to me is core to his job... but his glowing support of Trump's firing of Comey, Which of course proved out to be completely false. And I am wondering if Pence is completely not in th eknow, or if he says these things that he knows are untrue. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/11/james-comey-fired-trump-contradict-pence-238274
Agree. Has so much scrutiny been directed against a sitting President since Nixon? Mountains from molehills at it's best.
I wasn't aware that anyone on this board had the ability to put impeachment into motion or the ability to invoke any part of the 25th Amendment. His campaign is clearly under investigation as are people he hired to work for his administration. It's not about disagreeing with our politics. That's something that's as old as time. It's about the fact that the man is clearly unhinged, delusional, and unfit for office. He is too easily provoked and way way WAY to concerned about what people say about him. He has the thinnest skin of any politician I've ever seen. These town halls aren't exactly going well for the congressmen holding them...but at least many of them have the balls to face their constituents. Could you imagine Trump in one of these? He'd walk out in less than a minute. He couldn't handle the most simple of questions from a reporter while in the Oval Office (this after he went Captain Obvious and explained to the reporter why he couldn't hide in the corners...because there are none). He does not like to not be liked and it's clearly weighing on him. If he finishes this term, I wouldn't be terribly surprised...but I'd be willing to bet he doesn't run for a 2nd. It's a bit hard to imagine that he can mentally take the abuse for a full 4 years.
This is what is wrong with people who are afraid to think for themselves, they sooooo want to be right they sooo don't want to admit they did not even research the man before voting to see that this is exactly who he is.....he lies constantly, and he can't be trusted, but they went ahead and voted party, and damnit, nothing will change that, they will go down with the ship. THANK ****ING GOD THIS IGNORANCE is limited to less than 30% of this country. And no, do not give him a chance to implement racist bigoted policies. And, if he is found to have colluded with Russia, try him as a traitor - and let the chips fall where they may.....because if found guilty the last words he hears won't be "You're fired" but rather, "Ready, aim, fire!" DD
I love the mental gymnastics with the fact that Trump's campaign being under investigation has no implications for Trump himself. He's just an innocent bystandard in all this even though he was the head of his campaign. Just shows how much of a leader the man is. We all know how rational conservative posters like Space Ghost or ipaman or whoever has Trump's **** in their mouth are. We all know that if Barack Obama's campaign was in the middle of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for allegedly colluding with a foreign power in regards to our election, they would never bring it up because it's a petty partisan talking point.
Drats, I knew I should have ended that post with an winkie emoticon. In all seriousness, Trump has drawn the scrutiny, to a certain degree because of his "combative" relationship with the media, political opponents, and many other people with integrity. But you don't have to go as far as Nixon (though Nixon is perhaps the best comparison, for many reasons).
To a degree yes, but the media has not exactly been in love with him at any stage of his short presidency.
