Will the return of Tmac and Artest mess up chemistry

  1. Yes, without a doubt... don't buy into offense strategy

I used the Rockets game log at basketball-reference.com. If you want to know the offensive ratings of other NBA teams last year, look here.

The first time that they are back, I would grade them as follows

Tmac B- (ball stopped in 2nd half, started the one on one thing, which took everyone out of the game)

Artest B (ball stopped in 2nd half and took some bad shots while going one on one)

They didn't look great at all. They were ball stoppers in the 2nd half, but in the 2nd half NOBODY even tought about moving his ass... everybody was just standing, no spacing at all.

Very disappointing/frustrating to see so many of the bad habits again last night. Marginal improvement from Artest. It was nice to see McGrady go to the hole toward the end, after several BAD possessions.

posted it in the wrong thread, anyways

I really do think McGrady and/or Artest was the difference in a legit 6 point win

or without him maybe a 6 point loss that would have still counted as a "moral victory" cuz oooh man LOOK AT Von Wafer stepping it up and Scollandry hustling.

Gimme the gimpy leg guy who'll improve the team in addtition to what we already have. We've accepted Battier's softness on offense this long havent we.

No. It reminds me of last season when Tmac led the same role players to the playoffs, with great chemistry and good leadership.

In the end the "ball" is what gets defended. In a nutshell, RA wants ball movement and player movement to create the "off-balance" in the defense. These "cracks" can then be exploited. The reason Von Wafer has been so effective is that he doesn't hesitate when he thinks he sees one of those cracks; he just blows to the basket or takes the shot -- not much hesitation. If Tracy and Ron (and all the players, for that matter) could adapt to that way of thinking the offense would be that much more effective BECAUSE of their skills. Currently, they both think too much in terms of "demanding a double team". The result: ball movement isn't as "crisp" (as described by other posters) and moving without the ball seems odd to a player who thinks that he "creates" opportunities for his teammates. It's the crisp ball movement and moving without the ball that creates the cracks and opportunities.

Nothing wrong with our offense last night. If Von Wafer went for 24 and 9, this board will be all over his nutz.

In Detroit, the offense looked good early but it clearly was "messed" up late. Was it because of TMac and Artest? I would say the stagnation with due to TMac more so than Artest, but I know others would disagree ....

11-38 shooting. Receive the ball outside, shuffle around and chuck one from the outside. Brilliant stuff. Basketball 101.
