All that cap flexibility would be nice, but who are the best guys who are gonna be Free Agents next year and would the fill our need at PF and PG or SG when Dice and Ward come off the books?

    Let's see.........29 million off of 59 million......

    30 million payroll.

Salary Cap? What is the salary cap???

Well I don't know but I think we would have enough to sign Kevin Garnett.

    GODDARN.

Kevin Garnett. Steve Francis. Yao Ming. Cuttino Mobley. Eddie Griffin. Bostjan Nachbar.

I might do the trade if Dyce's contract is up next year. If he is still hurt he could be resigned for very little and given more time to come back, or just let him go. The big plus is we could go after any free agent we wanted with out giving up any of our core players. I mean Cato, Taylor, and Mooch are limited, over paid bench players on this team. If we traded them for other real players we would still be screwed. This move would be for cap space and a back up point. We could fill the rest of the roster with true bench players(cheap) or just resign Collior and TMorris along with a vet big man. This might be worth looking at if there is a targeted free agent we knew we could sign next year.

That is basically what I said. The backup point that we would be getting is Charlie Ward...who makes 5 million per season...and his contract expires at the end of the 04 season as well.

If McDyess's contract ends next season....then I would do this trade!

Sam, this just makes no sense whatsoever. You want to trade 3 healthy players for a backup point guard and a known injured player. If McDyess can't play, what good is he to the Rockets sitting on the bench? How does that make them a playoff team? Who will be your backup center now that Cato is gone? (Don't say Collier who's definitely on the way out of Houston)

Basically, you are proposing to trade a backup center, backup PF and backup PG for a limited backup PG. I fail to understand why this would even be of interest to anyone but the Knicks.

If McDyess' contract expires at the end of 04, I would do this trade in A HEART BEAT. Too bad NY won't though. To win a championship, you build for the future, and its not like we are going to win it all this season. We can easily pick up guys like Cato, Taylor at a MUCH cheaper cost later on. We don't need three bench players taking up 2/5 of Rocket's salary and preventing us from getting any decent FA in the next 4 years.

    -G'day-

that trade would totally rule. yeah maybe we would suck for another year, but after that we could rule the freaking world with all that dough. and we might even get lucky with mcdyess. plus charlie ward won the heismann:)

If NY is reluctant to trade Dyce, then we can propose a three way trade: Houston sends Cato and Moochie for Charlie Ward, Travis Knight and their ninth pick. Then rockets send NY pick and Mo-T to Milwaukee for Toni kukoke. Rockets get Cap space to sign a quality player or two. Knicks and Bucks get the size they desperately need.
