this is a little harsh. i probably would not have said it this clear and direct, yet i can't counter this assessment with a straight face. it also takes some something to say this on this board, to say the least.

The best part here is that you quoted me and then responded to something I never said (not in the quote or anywhere else) and then talked about my lack of reading comprehension. I never said Ron playing would make his ankle worse I said resting would help it get better. I never said playing is the only way or even the best way for Tmac to rehab. I just happen to have the opinion that if playing both rehabs your knee and helps your team you get out there and play.

    Answer these questions honestly:

Do you believe Tmac's knee will benefit from playing?

Do you believe a diminished Tmac can help the team?

Do you believe Ron's ankle will benefit from playing or do you believe it will benefit from resting?

The fact of the matter is that the doctors answered question one. Question two is a matter of opinion but I believe a team is always better when it's best player is on the court. The third question has not been answered by the doctors in the media but anyone with a sprained ankle will tell you that rest absolutely helps it heal.

Again, this was not an apples to apples argument from the beginning. You and a few others are being dishonest or ignorant by comparing two different medical conditions and pretending they are the same. Nobody here wants Tmac to play injured and I doubt anyone would want him to play if it stops or slows his recovery but the doctors say that is not the case. Ron, on the other hand, has a completely different injury that benefits greatly from a few days rest in my opinion and everyone else I know that has sprained an ankle. As I said before, if Ron is told that playing will help his ankle heal (not that it won't further injure it) but he refuses to play then you have an argument.

    1) playing v. resting? i would say he should rest. he won't hurt the knee by playing, but the soreness will take a longer time to go away if he had to play v. just resting it. so i support tracy's decision. notice his limping has gone away completely now from the first practice session (the limping never went away despite 15 games of playing).

    2) a diminished tracy can help the team obviously b/c he remains a threat. however, like adelman said, playing tracy with limited minutes really affect how he distributes the minutes. that will mess up some guys' rhythms, including tracy. but obviously, he helps us whenever he's on the court.

    3) ron's ankle will be the same for the rest of the year. if he doesn't roll his ankle again, he should be fine. if he does, same problem (your ankle always swell when you roll your ankle). this is not a new injury. he can play on it (i didn't see him limping), but hte pain AFTER the game probably is bad. just don't play him on b2b.

again, you forget that in ron's case, HIS AGENT also wanted him out. you should know the reason.

Yes, Ron should get a ticker too since he also makes $25 million, as much as McGrady.

where did you hear this? I have not heard anything from the team or the doctors that said the soreness will go away quicker if he does not play. I don't know if the limp has gone away since he has not played.

I did not know Adelman had a problem with Tmac playing diminished minutes. I only read that Adelman said it is difficult to prepare for the game when he does not know from night to night if Tmac is going to try to play.

You sure about this? The way I understand it is that Ron sprained his ankle AND aggravated a pre-existing injury. The swelling and pain from the recent injury can certainly heal with rest which would have him back to where he was on day one of the season.

I have not heard this. Is this a rumor or a legitimate story?

I will anwer those questions honestly.

Do you believe Tmac's knee will benefit from playing? Yes, playing Basketball games is one of the ways to help rehab his knee.

Do you believe a diminished Tmac can help the team? I beleive having Tracy McGrady limping around the court will not help our team. His sore knee has a negative impact on his shooting and how he moves without the ball. It also effects teh team as sometimes he can pla 35 minutes and sometimes he can only play 15 minutes. This disrupts the team chemistry.

Do you believe Ron's ankle will benefit from playing or do you believe it will benefit from resting? I'm not sure about exactly what is wrong with his ankle. If rest and rehab will help his ankle he should rest. However, if the only way to fix his ankle is to have surgery on it, than if he can deal with the pain he should play through it untill the end of the season. Offcourse, resting on back to back games.

Now, people need to stop assuming that playing Basketball games is the only way to help rehab T-Mac knee. It is not the only way.

I respect your opinion and the honesty. The only part I take issue with is this part:

"Now, people need to stop assuming that playing Basketball games is the only way to help rehab T-Mac knee. It is not the only way."

I don't think those of us that are down on Tmac think that playing is the only way for him to rehab. First, I don't think he rehabbed properly during the off-season. He looked pretty bloated and out of shape coming into the season. Second, I think that right now his #1 job is to win games. The doctors said that he will not hurt his knee by playing so I feel he should be out there helping this team win. You feel he is not helping the team by playing when he is pain. I respect your opinion I just happen to disagree.

The verdict is still out on Artest but I do know he sprained the ankle and aggravated an old injury. Sprains benefit from rest so I think if resting is going to make that ankle healthier then he should rest it. If the doctors say the ankle will benefit from Ron playing games but he refuses to play then we have a Tmac situation. I think the pre-existing injury will become a non-factor as the rest of the ankle gets healthy.

That is the thing. McGrady is unhappy with the way he was playing. So that tells me he thought he was playing poorly, and was hurting the team. He said he was unhappy with his play, but I assume he thought about the team aswell. That is why people need to stop insulting him and questioning his character, but support his decision.

He might not have rehabed his knee properly during teh off-season. If there was a topic talking about that I would be critical of him for not putting in the work and for the Coaching Staff/Medical staff for not recognising that. However the main issue is about his decision to rest for 3 weeks. After playing through the early part of the season.

Anyone you thinks McGrady is only thinking about himself and not the team after he played through November is dillusional.

I will assume you are right about Artest. If this is the case I hope he waits till T-Mac is back. Similar to what T-Mac did when Battier was out. The reason this thread was made is too poke fun out of the people who say T-Mac should play because he makes alot of money and questioning his character.

How hard is it to understand that playing and playing with pain are two different things? They both have injuries. They both can play through thier injuries without risk of re-injury. They both play terribly while playing in pain, so they choose to sit out. This conspiracy of quitting on the team, taking time off, etc. is getting old. I realize some of you don't like Tracy because he isn't Kobe or Hakeem, but this witch hunt is really getting old.

If he was quitting or faking, he wouldn't of been limping around the court for the past month while Battier was out.

I don't care how long some of you claim to be fans, if you are critical of the team and all it's player 90% of the time, then you are not a fan.

I don't worry about speaking my mind, it is all a matter of opinion anyway. If someone disagrees, fine. At the end of the day we are all here because we are Rocket's fans....and that is more important than bickering about prima-donnas etc....

I think everyone would be ok with a "Just Win" idealogy.

    :D

But Morey sat down with him and told him he was helping the team, even playing limited minutes. Morey told him to sit down if the pain was too great, not because he wasn't playing well.

He admitted on camera that he had not been consistent in his rehab of the knee. My main issue with him is his made up time table of 3 weeks, the doctors said take a week, and he just goes..."Nah, I will take 3".....just seems odd.

I think he believed the team could hold up while he got himself in better playing condition, yes, he cares about the team, but he also cares about how he looks, and being TMac.

Look at the end of the day, this is not something that has happened in one year, it has built up over time, Tmac has done this a lot....this exact issue came up 2 years ago with his back (which was really the pregnant lady in Orlando) and as soon as Yao went out, the back magically healed.

I guess, people like me just expect more out of your top paid player....

And I don't know where you got the idea that ANYONE said the only way to rehab a knee is to play on it....the team said, they were worried about him DOING the rehab as he has not done it in the past and so playing was part of the prescribed rehab.

It all boils down to expectations, being a fan is different for each individual. This is an internet message board, a place to vent, and discuss the team, the positives and negatives.

Whining about the whiners is redundant, and probably proves that you are too young to drink....lol.
