Umm how about some examples? I've been following the Rox ever since Tmac came to town and I've never, ever heard about him feigning injuries to get out of games. The only time I can think of was when the trainers were telling everyone last season that Tmac wasn't injured and that he was fine, and then he had surgery after the season
The difference is Tmac WILL get better by playing. Ron will not get better by playing but his ankle will get better (although not 100%) by resting. The two situations are completely different and it is pretty sad that we have fans who are either unable or unwilling to understand the difference between a guy with a sore knee and a career built on quitting and a guy with an ankle injury that often requires surgery whose career is built on being the toughest SOB on every team he plays for.
Are we talking about the same Ron Artest while in Indiana that said he wanted time off to promote his CD?
What about last season when he was telling the media about the torn ligaments in his elbow only to have the medical staff say that was completely untrue...which it was.
That was nutty and wrong. No doubt. The difference is the guy was looking to get out of town and at least he was honest. Stupid to do that but honest. I never said he wasn't a little off in the head but I did say he is very tough. Michael Jordan admires Ron's toughness. That's good enough for me.
Well you mentioned T-mac quitting but there has only been one mention of T-mac quitting and that is in his final season in Orlando when he wanted out, just like the excuse you are giving Artest. Artest said all this while playing for a contending team. T-mac allegedly quit when the team went on tank mode to get the 1st pick in the draft. I fail to see the difference.
The doctors didn't prescribe anything. Both doctors said the knee is structurally sound and he can play basketball with no risk of re-injury. That's it. Please find a quote directly from the doctor's mouth or from the Rockets saying that one of the doctors actually said he should take time off.
I love all these pompous self-righteous guys. They are so precious. Allow me to explain their warped reality to those of you scratching your heads -- in clearer terms: "The pain really doesn't matter. All that matters is the doctor's prescription. Actually, take that back. The pain doesn't matter in T-Mac's case. The doctor said he can play on it, so no matter how bad the pain is or how much it is affecting his game and the team, he should be playing. On the other hand, the pain DOES matter in Ron Artest's case, because Ron Artest is TRU WARIER and can only be brought down by the kind of astronomical pain that would make Chuck Norris cry. It doesn't matter that historically he has been just as injury prone as T-Mac -- all we care about is that we think he is a warrior and T-Mac is not, so he gets a pass on pain and T-Mac doesn't get that pass." Get it?
I'm sorry. Quitting was too narrow. How about looking for excuses not to play and/or exaggerating injuries? Good enough?
No, you are trying to discredit Tracy by using Artest as an example. This is a guy who basically ruined any cahcne of Indiana winning a Championship. Fact is this and you want to ignore this fact. Tracy was playing like ****, because his knee is not fully rehabed. So because he was unahppy with his performance he felt he should take some time off and rehab his knee away from the court. He played through the pain for a month. He wasn't ready to return but played through his sore knee for a month, because Shane Battier was out. Do not tell us we are ignoring the truth, when you ignore these facts.
Dave_78, just stop it. You're embarrassing yourself. Artest taking time off to promote his CD is stupid BUT(!!!!) it was honest. What kind of qualifier is that? How about the fact that he was not happy about not being the man in Indiana (Jermaine O'Neal was)? How do I know that? His old teammate, Reggie Miller, attested to it. As far as Artest's ankle not getting any better by playing but only by resting, you have nothing to back that up. He was unhappy with his level of play, similar to our other star, so he sat down to get better. T-Mac was limping around, similar to Dwyane Wade last year, and was inconsistent even for his standards. He sat down to heal up because he felt that he was not helping the team; I don't know how you would crucify a player for doing that.
I'm talking about one guy's current condition vs. the other guy's current condition. The fact that one guy is known across the league for being soft while the other guy is known across the league for being tough does play into this. You can't ignore the history but even if you do it still doesn't change the fact that one guy is injured and the other guy isn't. Now I know I've hit a nerve because I'm getting people telling me about Ron promoting CDs 3-4 years ago or his suspensions for fighting when the thread is about health and pain threshold. They are not facts. They are things Tmac started saying a few days ago. Considering all of the sh$t that comes out of his mouth that is refuted by the coaches, doctors and management so often I'm not sure how you come to confuse Tracy's rants with the truth.
Artest is still new and shiny to the team so he won't get an injury ticker yet. Wait till the honeymoon is over. The Kings loved him for a year, after that he reverted back to the Artest of old.
The thread is about Tracy's health vs. Ron's health. Please explain to me how Ron's CDs or him not getting along with people has any place in this thread. Can we get a doctor in here or at least someone who has played a sport? A severely sprained ankle needs rest. Ron's may need surgery after the season. Tracy's knee is fine. He needs to push the knee to get it strong again. Can you please tell me what surgery would fix McGrady because I know a procedure that would fix Ron's ankle. See the difference?
You fail again, Dr. Wannabe. According to the report on Ron's ankle, the ligament tear is not a new injury but rather one that has developed over a long time as a result of his days playing on cement. Also, they said that it is OK for him to play on it, and the *only* reason he is sitting out is because the pain is too unbearable, not because they have ordered him to rest. Tracy's knee is structurally healed, but it has been extremely painful for him to play on, to the point that it severely impacts his production on the court. He has not been sitting out: Bullard even confirmed on radio today that he has been working hard every day with Dave Macha to rehab the knee. He *is* pushing it and getting it back to strength. Now get off your stupid high horse and try to be reasonable again.
Did you watch the Houston Rockets game that he played in? I watched them all, via Internet or the few games televised. He only look like he was not in pain twice. Let me ask you this. Why would someone play for the whole month of November he is weak and wants to get out of playing? Why play for that month? Oh I bet it was part of his master plan. Play for November, pretned to be in pain then take 3 months off. Return in March just in time fo the play-offs to take the glory. And you are not jsut talking about Tracy's tolerance for pain, you are questioning his character. And you are using Artest of all people who has a worse past than T-Mac.
Lol you didn't hit a nerve, you stated T-mac had a career built on quitting and how Artest is the toughest SOB on the team. All I did was bring up Artest has quit too and he basically quit two years in a row. No doubt on the court this year Artest has looked tougher that still doesn't change the fact that when you look at their career stats on games played that the last 3 years T-mac has played more games than Artest and T-mac was not injury free while doing this.
But for the record I'm glad both Ron Ron and T-mac are on this team, in my eyes both guys are tough but has had some misfortunes in their careers. Just thought I would point out the irony.
