BTW if there is an attempt on Obama before the election, I will personally blame the Mccain campaign.

It would be better for a white supremacist will stage a fake Weather Underground terrorist attack on McCain/Palin.

McCain and Palin would win all the voters trying to avoid Obama and Ayers.

They have certainly increased the chances.

Shame on McCain. No honor for him.

50% is the minimum to get reelected. It isn't some great rating. W. had over 50% during the Iraq war.

He ranged from 50-80 and you consider him "not very popular"?

Read the article. I know you hate facts, but the fact is that most presidents were nowhere near that popular and thus your statement is....wrong. :)

EDIT: here's more facts for you. The three highest outgoing Presidents in history? CLinton (65), Reagan (64), Kennedy (63).

EDIT2: Here's even more facts. Kennedy ranged from 56-84. Only Eisenhower and Roosevelt in modern history ever even came close to having 50 as their low number (48)

He never spent an entire term in office.

So are you admitting you are wrong and saying he wouldn't have been popular, had he spent his entire term?

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about your statement that he "wasn't very popular when he was alive" - which was wrong.

Why was he in dallas again? Cause people in the south disliked him correct?

When do they take the outgoing poll?

I'm sorry, was there supposed to be humor in your little pun about hoping Dick Cheney assassinates Barack Obama?

because I found no humor in it.

Only if they see it coming. You can't absolutely secure a large area, assuming a sniper was set up somewhere far away.

It's sad that this fear is even thought to be very possible. Even with the hate against Bush, no attempts have been made as far as I know. Hate is hate, and I don't think a black man would be in any more danger than a white guy.

Regardless of race, I'd hope that an AMERICAN would do what is in the best interest for the AMERICAN people. I trust that'll be the case, whenever it happens that a non-white is in office.

Many feel that things will be drastically better for the black race if Obama wins, but I seriously doubt it. If life in the US is propped up, it'll be for everyone as a whole.

Despite my differing on his politics, one good thing about him winning would be possibly putting all this race crap behind us, or some of it at least.

I have to assume there've been threats. We see what people are doing and saying in public, all the racist trash that's going on. I can't help but believe the secret service will have more threats on Obama than any other protected person in history.

Anyways, every black friend and acquaintance I have believes Obama will be killed if he wins the Presidency. I can't really blame them for believing that honestly. I'm pretty terrified of it happening myself. I think it would set the country back 20 or 30 years and there might be some revenge for it frankly.

There is a sincere chance that either candidate could die in office. McCain is near the average life expectancy age, and Obama could be in jeopardy for reasons mentioned in this thread.

That's what makes the VP choices THAT much more important.

    Advantage: Obama.

Because even though people are loathe to say it, the best chance of McCain winning the election is if some of the rhetoric they've been spewing touches some lunatic who then takes the talk to the logical extreme.

I was just talking to the guys in my office about this last week. Listening to people at rallies shouting their hate phrases got me on it.

I don't blame McCain's campaign for any possibility of it, but I will say they have been irresponsible by attempting to portray Obama as basically a terrorist to win votes. In doing this some nut could commit the crime thinking he was protecting the country.

I realize things aren't perfect between the races, but we've come a long way. If he were to be killed in office or before, I feel it would be a huge crisis.

I understand that any assassination is a crisis, but this would be worse. I won't presume to predict what would happen, but I guarantee tensions would spike. Where we'd go from there, who knows.

On top of that, the enemies of America would love it. They wouldn't even have to attack, just let us destroy ourselves.

    Here's hoping everything works out.
