Another one: Houston trades: SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 12.3 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 28.8 minutes) Houston receives: SF Ron Artest (17.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.9 apg in 37.4 minutes) PG Jamaal Tinsley (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.3 apg in 14.0 minutes) PG Alvin Williams (7.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.1 apg in 27.7 minutes) Change in team outlook: +18.4 ppg, -0.2 rpg, and +8.7 apg. Indiana trades: PF Austin Croshere (5.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.4 minutes) SF Ron Artest (17.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.9 apg in 37.4 minutes) PG Jamaal Tinsley (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.3 apg in 14.0 minutes) Indiana receives: C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 30 games) SF Michael Curry (3.0 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 29 games) Change in team outlook: -16.8 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -4.9 apg. Toronto trades: PG Alvin Williams (7.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.1 apg in 27.7 minutes) SF Michael Curry (3.0 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 15.9 minutes) Toronto receives: SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 20 games) PF Austin Croshere (5.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.4 apg in 32 games) Change in team outlook: -1.6 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -3.8 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Houston, Indiana, and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Indiana, and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. We would lack a backup center, but we could pick one up, and in the meantime, Mo would have to get more minutes and play harder. Indiana would get a good center in the east, get rid of Artest and would get rid of Croshere's contract so they should have more cap space after this season. Toronto trades Williams, now that they have Rose running the point, and they get a guy with potential in Boki and a smart player in Croshere. (They would probably have to get some picks and money as well...)
There HAS to be another deal coming, and it will involve either Steve, Cat, Cato, or Taylor...write it down...
With all due respect, SJC, have you watched Jaric play? I'd much, much rather have Boki. Besides, IMO we don't need any more SGs, and Jaric certainly isn't a point. I always carp about wanting a tall (Jaric is), talented (he's not) PG to allow Steve to move to SG, but Marko my words, he is not the ONE. He is not NEO!
Could a trade with Atlanta be coming? Could a trade with Atlanta be coming? Houston could package Mobley (underpaid) & Taylor (overpaid) and get a good package. Houston could trade: Mobley Taylor Nachbar Atlanta could trade: SAR Steven Jackson Vaughn Houston would get 2 starters in SAR & S. Jackson and a pretty good back up point gaurd in Vaughn Atlanta could get a very good shooting guard to match with Terry and a starting power forward to replace SAR and a replacement for their lost small forward. Does anyone think this would improve our team or hurt it.
That's the most important thing right now. I know that Manboob was useless, but atleast there was some comfort in knowing we weren't totally screwed if one of Cato or Yao went down to injury. I would think any transaction will have to involve a back up center. I do believe that Cato or MoT is gone in the next few days. Let's just hope that CD and the rest of management do the right thing and don't just make a trade for the sake of making a trade.
But we are totally screwed if either one goes down. More so if Yao goes down, but if Cato currently goes down the team still loses 28 mpg of good defensive play, which is the only thing even keeping us in games. For that matter, even with them both healthy, we're a mediocre team, so how can you not trade?
This looks good to me. Jackson's shot is very suspect, which doesn't improve our current problem at SF with our Jackson, but that's the price of getting a SAR, I guess.
We signed JJ for Vet minimum using a very small part of our MLE. Fact is, if we wanted him we could have had him any ways. The trade does not affect our ability to get him except proving Les is a cheap b*stard. No ball, try again.
I forgot to say, JJ was also a FA signing, not a trade. Right now we have a 7 million TE and are not using it. Like I said, I'd also put money on we won't use it.
I have another great idea . Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 27.1 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 28.8 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 39.6 minutes) SG Jimmy Jackson (15.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 39.6 minutes) SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 12.3 minutes) Houston receives: SF Grant Hill (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 12.3 minutes) SG Tracy McGrady (24.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 5.8 apg in 39.1 minutes) Change in team outlook: -12.1 ppg, -12.7 rpg, and 0.0 apg. Orlando trades: SF Grant Hill (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 12.3 minutes) SG Tracy McGrady (24.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 5.8 apg in 39.1 minutes) Orlando receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24 games) C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 30 games) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 30 games) SG Jimmy Jackson (15.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 30 games) SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 20 games) Change in team outlook: +12.1 ppg, +12.7 rpg, and 0.0 apg. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ------- Why does Orlando do it? They are not going anywhere with T-Mac - this trade gives them a chance to start over again, since we take on the heavy burden of the Grant Hill contract (I think his career is over). Also, T-Mac is starting to be unhappy and frustrated in Orlando and walked out on the team at the last game in New York... Why do we do it? Well, we basically dismantle our team completely, but we will have three stars...Francis, T-Mac, Yao! I am a big believer in assembling as much talent as possible by any means and worry about the complementary parts later...so... (by the way, I am only half serious )
i thinking about dallas trade jaimison forton and best for cato and taylor or taylor and cato for rasheed walace it would be a dream come true
I'll repeat what I said in the other thread. Isn't it possible that the Rockets got Spoon so they could have even more cap room when his contract comes off the books in 2006(unlike Moochie's whose deal runs til 2007)? Their free agents that summer will include Cat, Pike, JJ, Cato, Yao, and now Spoon who gives them an additional 5-6 mil they can use. Obviously, priority #1 is to re-sign Yao. Steve is already signed til 2009(assuming he isn't traded in the next 2 1/2 years). So that gives them a crapload of cap space to plug in players around those two. It's very similar to the situation the Spurs were in last summer. I know we're all obsessed with winning now. But I don't see any problem with the organization looking ahead a couple seasons and putting themselves in a position to be a big player in free agency.
I can tell you are already into the New Year's cheer, but this actually might work. However, please find a way to keep Boki. IMO, he is a keeper. You also must be assuming Alton Ford is ready to step up to the basket. He's big enough, tall enough and he has a decent shot. With Francis moving to SG and MacGrady playing SF, we then only have to worry about the point -- and here's where I think Jim Jackson should play. I wonder how this line-up would play:

Griffin as backup Pike - SF -- Nachbar and Padgett as backup Ford - PF -- Weatherspoon as backup Ming - C -- Chris Marcus or S. Vranes as backup Man, even with McGrady, I'd worry about this.
If we trade Cato, I think we should look at this S. Vranes kid. I know he is a project, but he'll be practicing with Yao everyday which will help his learning curve IMO. I don't know if we need to make anymore trades. I think Wilkes will be a great backup. He just needs a shot, and we'll all know he's capable. Taylor seems to be in a lot of people's list to go, but he's scoring and playing better. He's worth keeping IMO. I think Cato is the one to go here. We can get someone equal to Cato's value right now from the EC.
Another trade I believe there will be another trade before 19th, Feb. 'cause except Cato, we still have 4 PF which are too much and useless trash. It's something like malformation or deformity in medicine. Please look at Lakers or Spurs, Which is a real world champion team composed of? Here follows some suggestion. What if we trade Maurice Taylor and Scott Padgett for Blazers' Rasheed Wallace? or we send Cat to Pacers for Ron Artest? or send Franchise to Bulls for Kirk Hinrich and Jamal Crawford?
Just because you trade for good players, doesn't mean you'll be any better. Our team will be in a rebuilding mode for the rest of the season. I think we'll have to wait till the offseason for any major moves to go down if this current rocket roster doesn't make the playoffs then and only then I'll be opened minded to some major moves.
