I see what you're saying and that's probably something I'd hear like at a Bible Study group and talking about more positive things but it's also human nature to divide and conquer. As we all know there's other things like jealousy, hate, and someone who wants to extremely disagree. Those positive racial stereotypes are only good to an extent and a some would question what's behind all that.

Why are Asians good at Math? perhaps it's cultural and there are higher standards and expectations placed upon them. Why are Mexicans family people? Don't other ethnic groups don't share the same values? Why are White people wealthy and how did they get to be wealthy? is it dirty money?

Will racism ever die? probably not. It was just 4 years ago that the USA elected it's first "Black" President, even though he is bi-racial. Now recently there's news of the first Hispanic Keynote speaker at the San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro at the DNC.

If it's not racial divide, there will be ethnic divide, political divide, religious divide, etc.

Can I assume that you're white? (I'm allowed to do that because I'm white myself, that's how it works right?) The way you whine about how racism affects you just screams out entitled suburban white guy to me. ("Why do people have to keep talking about it and making me feel guilty???")I bet you'd have a much different view of racism if you grew up an inner city black kid or tried to be taken seriously at basketball while Asian.

Honestly, I have a hard time believing that Lin being overlooked for so long had nothing to do with his race. He led his underdog HS team to a championship and I believe he's the only California HS player of the year to NOT be offered a full ride somewhere. He played great at Harvard, setting many school records, and showed NBA-level talent at SL and in limited minutes. It's really telling that Shump had to be injured and Toney Douglas had to be literally the worst point guard ever for Lin to even get a shot.

Take it easy with putting words in people's mouths. We don't have the luxury of knowing people's backgrounds on the internet. I think that's part of the way why it's so easy for other posters to make ignorant racist remarks, good ol' anonymity.

Wanna post a thread that will guarantee at least five pages of replies?

Just post a racially related topic. Works everytime!

Nope. If you are asian you are still going to have the stereotype. It happens everywhere, people have to fight stereotypes all the time.

My educated guess based on informed stereotypes is that he's an entitled suburban white guy. I bet I'm right.

Except that some have to fight harder than others.

It's about market. Asian-American rarely seen in NBA. The only one must get huge support.
Lin is not only about race, he is also Harvard-educated. He undrafted. After you see the topic "Royce White drafted one day" you will understand the feeling of Jeremy Lin ate 40 chicken wings. If there are two or more Asian-American in the NBA, you will talk about this less than before.
