Previously, before the success of Jeremy Lin, asian american basketball prospects were usually not taken seriously, due to perceived stereotypes. Now after witnessing how sought out Lin became during this past summer's free agency period, do you feel team front offices will become more incline to sign young athletic asian american guards?

I already do it in NBA 2k12

Increased interest? No. But they won't be so quick to disregard or judge a player based on his race.

I think it will continue to show that 1.) each player has to be judged individually, and 2.) sometimes statistics are useless, damn useless. Morey went on a radio show back when Lin was exploding to say that Lin's college stats were pretty much the equivalent of some other white PG from a non-major conference, but that no one was upset that we had not even given that other dude a look. He did admit on air that we f-ed up though. And then Les moved swiftly to remedy the error this offseason.

Yes. Just like how Yao's emergence led to scrubs like Yi Jianlian getting drafted at #6, young Asian and Azn players will become overrated due to Linsanity. It's inevitable, just human nature. The same way that when black people started dominating basketball, black people became rated higher than before and white people got rated lower.

I don't really like the term reverse racism but I can see scouts looking at more asian guards. We saw it with the euro's, we see it in football with black qb's. Because of jamarcus russell no one thought cam newton was worth the #1 pick, now after cam athletic qb's are being hyped again.....

Just echoing here, but as a black person, there is not a more patronizing phrase than "reverse racism."

Not another thread by this guy... (who pretended to be a girl when questioned why he made a "Prettiest players in the NBA?" thread)

    Prettiest players in the NBA?

Pretty sure Derrick Rose has aspergers syndrome

Is there any point to dribbling between the legs in basketball?

Olympics should add more basketball events.

Hypothetical situation about hall of fame

Whoever invents a time machine is going to be a very wealthy man.

Who wins in this match up? 5 Kobes vs 5 Dwight Howards?

    lol, hilarious thread.
wtf is 'reverse racism'? is that like when ppl embrace stereotypes about them because it's beneficial? like a black guy who loves that everyone thinks he can dance but he actually can't? or the asian guy who loves that everyone thinks he's got good math skills? they're all like, 'man i love that ppl think all these positive things about me even though don't have a clue about what kind of person i am.' lol, GTFO

And also, I wish the site had a single thread for racism/ethnicity discussions. this is a legit topic but no one wants to see countless threads cluttering the site with this.

I don't know who coined the term 'reverse racism' but I'd be lying if I said their death wouldn't bring me some amount of satisfaction.

Hahaha. One thing is for sure: there has been an outbreak of racial tensions around here since Lin arrived, mostly from lurkers / new members.

Jeremy Lin would probably be seen more as the exception. In order for them to target Asian-American guards, those guards need to at least succeed either at the NCAA level or in another professional league. There aren't that many to begin with right now and Lin's emergence had a lot of factors, the perfect storm people would say.

If the Asian guard were to be played, Jet Chang would have gotten some playing time in the summer league. He got none.
