Will the Rockets Re-Sign Terrence Jones?

After Morey fails to sign Durant, he'll give Tjones the max as a last "**** you" to the Rockets organisation.

 

I have a better shot at making the Rockets than double pump Tjones! The softest 6'8" forward in the league!!!

 

What's his cap hold? Is it the $3.5 million qualifying offer?

I can see DM signing TJones to a fair contract if (1) he is able to otherwise sign free agents he wants to get before signing TJones, and (2) no other GM offers him dumb money early in free agency.

But clearly DMs not hamstrung either way. The Parsons thing was unexpected two years ago and he turned that into a better and cheaper fit in Ariza... so I don't think he's sweating what happens with an ok backup big.

Jones is still on the roster because he didn't garner a 1st round pick, that might be in the lottery.

The only thing I can make up as an excuse is that sometimes, deals are announced later, after the deadline...but I guess not.
