Which means 2 - 2.5 mil per year.

If that what the market says, than yes...I think he will get offered a lot more.

He does not have Von's ability to dribble drive, nor is his first step as quick. He does have his jumping ability though.

You sure about that? You may have seen more games where White played, so idk.

idk either, but everyone i've listened to who is close to the team loves his potential. Morey is rarely wrong, so i tend to believe in whatever decision he makes. I think signing White makes Wafer expendable if he demands more money than he is worth.

Watched him in the D-league, he was silky smooth, sort of Tmac light......but Wafer is a lot quicker.

I do agree that Morey probably signed him as Wafer insurance, but that doesn't mean he is as good.....

Except isn't he an Unrestricted FA? Which means that unlike Landry, we can't just sit and wait until other teams make an offer. So Morey has to at least give him a fair offer.

The operative word is "fair." The worst thing we can do is to bid against ourselves.

But this is Morey, so little chance of that happening.

I think people are really underrating what von is and what he can become. He's 23 and what he has is the ability to dribble and pull up. Now the rox have lacked another guy like that for years. Is he worth mle money? Maybe, because teams will look at his age and upswing. Kopono got mle money. Salmons got the mle also. A team can give him mle money and he will be sub 30 before its up. His value to a team like Toronto with a pass first point and a open offense could be a fit for von.

I think the rox should do what lakers did and transition from a jvg type of slow, plodding, standstill team to a fluid, athletic, slashing team. Rafer is gone, tracy is on his way out, and next is hayes and battier. Von and Brooks are the right kind of players. Gone should be guys that can't do all that is required like 5 tool players. Spot up shooting isn't enough. Slashing isn't enough. The team needs guys that can do it all on some level and von can. He curls screens well, he's shooting well from 3, he can dribble and pull up. That's what people are underestimating that fact.

he got play time because of tmac's issue.
if he go to lakers, nugget, spurs or many other teams,
he will not have much play time.
next year, salary cap will decrease.
it is difficult for him to get mle.

Wafer's previous history will be used against him to get a cheap contract. He'll probably be signed for ~2mil/year

athleticism is not the only aspect of the game. by your standard, then artest should be let go, too, just because he's not that athletic either.

and i haven't seen the young hawks do anything better than what we have done.

"One of the downsides for the Rockets is that Wafer will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and may have priced himself out of what Morey can pay.

That’s an issue for another day. In a season that has played out differently and perhaps better than anyone could have imagined, Wafer is ready to help write the next chapter."

    that is not good...

At this stage, it is critical to not overpay for anything this summer in my opinion.

Just realized there was a thread dedicated to this:

Thats what I think of Von Wafer. The guy is intelligent, you can see he is trying to learn (how many times haven't I seen Artest give him some indications). With the right coach and the right advices, Von Wafer can be a great player.

Don't worry, Daryl Morey the Genius will be able to retain him for a very reasonable price like we did with Carl Landry.

    I want Morris Almond too!!!
