I'll where red and be rowdie if members of the Rockets give me free season tickets as well. It doesn't take a true die hard fan to make that obvious decision. With all the empty seats they might as well expand the program untill ticket sales rise. They at least profit off of the concession and parking sales. I'm sure 2 beers will cover the cost of one shirt. Just sems like Economics 101.

    knowing les....

he's too cheap and hated JVG too much to pick up the bill.

if i were adleman i would've asked for the rowdies to be included in my deal as a signing bonus.

Red Rowdies should be included in the Rocket's marketing budget every year from now.

I sure hope the Rowdies are back next year and every year. My tickets are sec 114 and I love being there with the Rowdies. I had an opportunity to meet some of them, and the energy and passion they brought to the arena every nite was amazing.

Come on now, this is inappropriate.

Besides, whoever proves Godwin's Law right automatically loses the discussion he is in.

    good idea.

still tho, i'd like to see the players buy more rowdy tickets.

if JVG can afford 50, then tmac and yao can at least match that. aren't they making about 5 times more than the coach?

there were 70 last year, this season i think any player NOT on a rookie contract should chip in. that should be about 8 players plus the coach. if each player can buy 25 season tickets that would be 200 rowdies!!!

if 70 made the place loud, what would 200 do?

and another thing... i would put 50 behind each basket and 100 behind/next to the opposing teams bench.

We should have Le$ just shell out 19,000 red rowdy tickets. Can you imagine how freakin' loud the TC would be with 19,000 Red Rowdies. It would be comparable to Golden State!

If you've never been to a game, being a Red Rowdy is more than just getting free tickets. If you are not a true die hard fan, than being a Rowdy probably sucks. Who the hell would want to attend 45 games and never sit down unless you are a die hard fan? We probably lost 10 or more Rowdies this season because they weren't "die hard fans".

I'm pretty sure they'll do it again. So you can come down and tryout. But if you aren't a die hard, don't bother.

Yeah that's a kind of sad commentary on Houston. That the coach and star player had to set up a program and put in their own money to get rowdy fans into the arena.

I loved watching a game with the Rowdies and hope they are back but c'mon Houston.... The rest of y'all can get Rowdy too.

Players and Coaches should never have to pay for the Rowdies. That would be like asking the Players and Coaches to pay for janitorial services or equipment. The Rowdies are an expense for the benefit of the team. Les Alexander needs to stop being cheap and pay for the tickets. Les is the boss and the coach is an employee on the payroll of the Rockets. Rockets expenditures need to come from the Rockets account. Not the coaches.

thats sacramento though, have you ever been there? there is nothing to do at all...even during the bad days of the kings they sold out/well because they are the only show in town. there isnt even a major university to compete with them out there. houston does have other franchises, its a shame that the rockets are the least appreciated though they have had the most success but it is what it is.

as for the rowdies the rockets PR should bring them back, i had a real blast for the 24 minutes i stood with them. next season when i come down i hope to have a seat there for the game(s) i plan to attend.

my suggestion for the rockets pr they should either a)make the section bigger and the tryouts a bit harder so only the real die hards get in. i am sure there were a lot fans who did it just for free season tix and at least from what krosfyah said it looks like some dropped off because they couldnt keep up with the fanaticism.
b)if they keep the same number ~70 then they should move the rowdies behind the visitors bench or in general closer to the court. I think it would irritate the other team pretty good if they had them always there in their face the entire game.

of course there are costs associated with all of this, it was a success last season. garned some national media attention too. i am sure they can easily get some corporate sponsorship (bud did for the playoffs) to help out with the price of the tickets. Also the owner should by some but like most people with money they are bigger fans of money than fans of the team. I still think the players can chip in, the fans are there to support them, so they should have an obligation to the fans. Heck the rockets paid 2 million last year for bonzi to do nothing they could have used that 2 mil to easily cover the cost of the rowdies. But if all the players chipped in (accordingly to their payrate--so yao and tmac should be contributing the most) i think they can get a lot of rowdies in this upcoming season.

just out of curiousity does anyone know how much the seats cost apiece? the seats were lets say were 2k apiece for the season (~49 per game) getting 100 rowdies seats would be 200k. that is not much for a major corporation when it comes to market (and you know bud, would not keep this local their do stuff on national broadcast to let it be known)...also i am sure the playerse can easily come up with that sort of cash if not more if they all pooled together. figure in too that the rockets org may even discount those season tix for this purpose.

It is my understanding that the Rowdie tickets are in the $50 range. I sit in Sec 114 Row 28 and paid $37 a seat for the mini plan last year. This year however, the same seats are $40 for full season ticket holders.

quoted so people can see what is really up.

I only was with them for one half, and I was exhausted.

these guys are hardcore and loud....if you ever get the chance, get tickets as close to them as you can.

@ $50 a ticket, for 41 games, the price of a rowdie season ticket should cost $2,050.

each player who is not on thier rookie contract should be able to afford about 10-15 rowdies. i'd like to see twice as many next season!!
