in Christianity it's not about your good deeds vs. your bad deeds. it's not a measure of your life. the Bible says, we've all fallen short. thus, the need for a savior. there's no earning of your own redemption in Christianity.
yeah..i assumed you knew that...but thought i'd make the point anyway. for such a "Christian" nation, so few truly understand what the theology is about.
There is no way that Saddam is going to heaven as he is having a love affair with Satan. Don't you watch South Park?
mark, remember that Christ on the cross was surrounded by thieves who were also being crucified. one taunted him and said, "dude, if you are who you say you are, get us all out of this crap!" and the other thief said, "hey, he's the only one up here who is truly innocent. we're getting what we deserve." then he looked to Jesus and said, "remember me when you go into your Kingdom." and Jesus responded, "you will be with me this very day in Paradise."
I loved the South Park where everyone is waiting to go through the Pearly Gates and all of the sudden, almost everyone goes to Hell. Then St. Peter says "The Correct religion was "Mormon.""
i saw that movie , can't figure out why mel gibson made that movie. seriously though, you say nobody is capable of their own redemption yet nobody is beyond redemption, seems contradictory. jesus would have to be one hell of a vainglorious control freak to deny worthy souls the kingdom of heaven due to a technicality.
I have to quote Max here... "for such a "Christian" nation, so few truly understand what the theology is about." Choosing Jesus as your personal Lord and savior is far from a technicality, it is the cornerstone of the entire faith! If you know and believe one thing in the entire Bible it better be that. There is only one act that God can't forgive, and that is not believing that his son Jesus Christ is the savior he sent for us.
again..we've ALL fallen short. that's the starting point for Christian theology. there is no worthy soul among us.
that's depressing, this idea of perfection, of the absolute. in what way are you not worthy, by the simple fact that you are a human being? we have flaws, we make mistakes, but this should not doom us. without imperfections we are nothing, it is the falling short that makes life worth living. Me up at does out of the floor quietly Stare a poisoned mouse still who alive is asking What have i done that You wouldn't have
True its weak in that I'm not taking a stand on what qualifies as a true Christian or true Muslim and I guess its a sign of weakness that I'm not so arrogant as to try to tell others the proper practice of other people's faith beliefs when I don't even subscribe to those. Do you feel the need to tell other religions they aren't practicing their religions properly? Does this only apply to Christians and Muslims or do you tell Druid sects they are worshipping the wrong trees?
