NYK publicly came out and said they will match any offer up to a billion dollars for Lin(no really, they said that).

There is no hope for getting Lin, we need to hype up the next potential starting pg.

First, you are changing the subject... I did not state that Cassell, Brooks, Lowry, or Dragic could not get past the half-court line vs an opponent like Mario Chalmers.
Brown stated that Lin would be a terrific backup, and you posted that quote implying that you supported its context... Now you are implying that since Lin cannot pass the half-court line vs Chalmers, he is not a "terrific backup" as the Rockets players I listed were (which you indirectly conceded), and therefore you disagree with Brown... so why post his quote? That sort of stuff can make people lose credibility.

Secondly, that was just one game (when Linsanity reached its climax too so I can imagine Chalmers must have been extra-motivated); If I recall correctly, Shane Battier while on the Rockets once held LeBron James to 0 assists in one game... so could I conclude from that one game that LeBron James is a horrible passer?

LMFAO. Over that period you're talking about Lin went 89 for 179. He averaged 26.3 points on 50% shooting. Attempting 17.9 shots per game. There's a lot of ways to argue about Lin but looking at scoring over that period is an extremely noob way to sabotage yourself.

You don't even look at Lin's advanced metrics. He drew 8.2 FTA per game in that stretch. If you look at his PER, WS, AST%, OWS, TS% etc all that stuff is comparable to HOFers their first years.

Why would you even look at his scoring? If you're gonna troll troll with something that you can use to your benefit: his TOV%, his high usage rate and his 3 point shooting. No matter how you slice it your argument is terrible. It's like you arguing that watermelon and fried chicken sucks. That **** is DELICIOUS. Lin can score and his offensive efficiency is off the charts. How are you going to win that argument?

No one cares if you're racist. If they did about 1/3 of clutchfans couldn't post on any Lin thread but you need better arguments than that. It really makes it look like you didn't either watch the games or even take a look at his numbers during that stretch without Carmelo.

Pardon me for saying so, but you are missing my point. Larry Brown explicitly said that he thought that Lin is a terrific backup "in the NBA", implying regardless of whichever system or team he would play in / on.

The guards I mentioned were also terrific backups, and some of them became darn good starters too, which is my point.

But in any case, New York seems poised to match.

I doubt Lin is really worth anything from a marketing standpoint. Sure, they'll put his face on the billboards around town. But, is he going to actually drive any revenues here or abroad? Lin without Linsanity won't move the needle. Even playing as well as he did last season wouldn't generate another Linsanity craze. He has to play like an All-Star (and cover the holes in his game before people start to notice) -- and the Knicks have to win -- to be worth anything extra marketing-wise. Being Asian isn't enough.

Basically a complete waste of time - and what looks like a little of the old "We tried" sauce on top.

Well he didn't play against Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving, Tony Parker. Deron Williams dropped 38 points on him.

So can we finally put this to rest, NYK matched and it's over. Morey's desperate search for a PG continues, don't tell me you really believe he willingly lost the two PGs everybody thinks are capable starters. He lost because he lowballed and got outsmarted.
