This isn't about Lin; it's about Yao.

Ok lins popularity is real and its abit scary. U demand proof right?

After a bad post allstars regular season he recieved the third highest votes for allstars almost embaressingly knocking cp3 off . Kobe and cp3 only were ahead of him. And he was like got double of harden's votes. Who are these people u might ask.
It might be china it might overseas chinese it might be asians. Whatever it is i bet a large part of them never watched nba before . Hence his market vaule to nba. He has untapped and created new market audueince. This means growth and in business its pretty common that growing market is king to $$$$ .
Hence clutchfans getting flooded by these folks.

Remember clutchfans during the allstar vote , clutch members had to beg fans to stop voting for him? Lol even lin said he wasn't an allstar yet.

So folks lin's market is real , where do you think it comes from?

Its quite simple, when your mobbed by hundreds or even thousands of girls that say they want your baby and love you, you've generated a fanbase of epic like proportions not just in Asia but here as well.

Guys I warn you, you will read stuff youll probably not want to hear in regards to Jeremy Lin.
so conclusively, Lin fans are like mixing Kobe and Bieber fans, obsessive and defensive for their superstar and like him on a personal note as not only a singer/player but wants to know everything the person does on a daily basis, almost stalkerish.

    Simple.
Jeremy shares the lineage of both Taiwanese and Chinese people.

He is American btw as less ignorant fans pointed out before

First of all, Lin is American. However since Chinese/Asian American are still a minority in the US and Lin is Chinese descendant, it is only logical that he is often treated as Chinese rather than American by his skin. Don't take it the wrong way, there is nothing racist or whatsoever. So please don't go to that direction.

Lin thinks of himself as American as he said before to the public. If some insist, he is Asian American but still American. He can hardly speak Chinese.

It is only logical that people often judge one another by the color of skin when it comes to nationality and it doesn't necessarily involve racism or whatsoever. This is only human nature. enough said. Otherwise it will go out of the topic and it will also take too long to write why and how.

If you have been a Chinese fan of the Rockets', I don't think you will or should change your loyalty regardless of whether Lin's stay or leave.

If you are a Chinese fan or a fan who is called LOF, you will likely go away when Lin goes. Of course, some may still stay as Rockets fans.

There is a misconception that all Chinese fans support or like Lin, Although many of Chinese NBA fans do like him due to his Chinese ancestry background.

Chinese dispora. Also chinese history is pretty complex with dialect groups. Then again it could be a asian thing , wider appeal cause so few asians. In a lin reflects these complexities of being chinese ... Racial not nationality ( easy to confuse the 2)

Butheck lets het back to basketball talk

Jlin is popular because of so many things....he is young, intelligent, good looking, social media savvy, good basketball player, Christian, humble and he cares for his fans. His story touched so many lives....the struggles, rejections and triumph....it's very relatable.

Many of his fans will follow him wherever he goes. According to Jlin, his most hardcore fans are from Taiwan. He has a Facebook account dedicated to his Asian fan only, with 1.1 million followers and 1.8 on his regular facebook account. He has more than a million followers on twitter. Many of his fans are computer and social media savvy.

As to the Chinese fans leaving or not...it could be both ways...some will stay, some will go and some are already Rocket fans because of Yao. But I have no doubt that there are Jlin fans who are not fans of Yao at all (though they respect him) and vice versa.

There's no denying that Jlin has an effect on the Chinese market.

Haven't read through the whole thread, so forgive me if it's been said....but I read recently that the Rockets remained the most watched team in China even during the period after Yao and before Lin.

    Yes.

Effect of Yao is too great, making Rockets being hometeam of them.
