Astros are gonna do it! Mark my words!!! 3 games back with a lighter schedule than the Reds and Cards. Plus we are getting Carlos back in a week... Things are looking up!
Memo to Jimy: Tell Dave Mlicki he is pitching wednesday instead of tuesday. Roy O has his 5 days rest and pitching him tuesday sets him up to be able to pitch vs Atlanta on the weekend.
Yep. We might do it, but the Braves are peaking right now. Then again...the Astros are playing some pretty good baseball these days. It will be interesting, but I wouldn't bet your life savings on it.
The way the Braves are playing right now - and have been ever since May - it's more than wishful thinking. It's more like hoping to find the needle in the haystack. The Braves have lost just one series in their last 23...not good odds if you want to win a series against them. The Astros may not win the series versus the Braves, but there will be more chances to make up ground on the Cards after that series.
As a Braves fan, I'm a little scared going into the Houston series. We'll be coming off a big matchup against Arizona and we're a little dinged up right now. Nahhhhhhhh sweep.
If you don't sweep...or better yet you lose the series...will you be big enough to post a message congratulating the Astros?
Of course!! I wish the Astros nothing but the best every year, but when they play the Braves my loyalties never waver. To be honest, I'm wondering when our luck is going to run out. I find it hard to believe that this run will continue for the rest of the year. Guess if it ran out against Houston I could handle that.
3 stinking games out of first!! wow!!! I'm not confident this team can win in the playoffs..but I think they're good enough to win this division. Maybe they'll surprise us...in 98, 99 and 01 everyone thought there were legit chances to get out of the first round...we didn't...but this year, no one would give us a snowball's chance in hell to get out of the first round...so maybe we'll surprise everyone THAT WAY this year!! Remember, I was voted most optimistic by my senior class!
I like our chances a lot, assuming the starting pitching holds up. The Reds have a very difficult schedule in the next month although the Cardinals schedule gets a little easier for them. We've got 7 games coming up with the Reds in the next 3 weeks -- time to take care of business. Mlicki needs to shape up or else Carlos will take his spot in the rotation. In reality that probably won't happen however. Munroe would be sent to the pen before Mlicki, despite their recent performances.
If Mlicki continues his slide and Munro pitches well, don't think Jimy won't go with the hot hand especially in a pennant chase.
We will have to win the division. We are 3 games back as of today. We are 5 games back of the wild card spot
