Even if it got us T-mac? If management got us T-mac for Steve plus fodder, and YOU felt upset over it. Then I'm afraid you'd be the one that wouldn't know your head from your arse.
i hope they keep steve. i would be very pissed if we traded him for Bibby Steve is sampson? tell me why? sampson was great until he got injured steve never shown us that he is injury prone (besides the migraine). so why is he sampson? Can you see in the future?
unless trading Steve notch us Tmac, Kobe, KG, TD or someone of that quality.... I dun see the huge advantage of trading SF......
Think about it. If you'll remember, before Sampson's injuries, there were already warning signs showing up. There were more inconsistencies showing up from one game to the next. Questions were being asked about whether he had enough heart, cajones, emotional control, etc. All of this as it was becoming more and more apparent that Dream was going to be the franchise. Contrast the consistency of the effort that Dream brought to EVERY game, even back then, to the effort Sampson was bringing not every game. They waited too long to trade him...when his went south it was too late. But the flares were there before the injuries.
For the thousandth time....trade him. If ORL will take SF3, Mobley and Cato for TMac and parts (Howard and Lue are close capwise)...do it yesterday. If they won't, take the best offer available...there's more to this world than All Stars and role players. The new trade buzz words ought to be near All Stars, high-end experienced vets and fundamentally sound, TO-free youngsters with upside. If Van Gundy, Dawson and Alexander (it is a group decision) decide to keep him, I'll live with it....I'm Rockets first. If they don't...I'll be very excited about 2004-05.
I agree with Roc Paint, Steve is the best we got, period, there is no arguing that. I'm more apt to trade the big man who fades in the end, what will he get ya?
SF has given all he has - it's just not what the team needs to move to the next level. There's absolutely no question about his heart or desire to win. But the NBA zone defenses have stripped him of much of his ability to create, and he simply doesn't have PG instincts to excel in a structured system. The best comparison I can think of is the swap of Bibby for JWill. Bibby was getting flamed in Vancouver. and JWill was King's "wild thing." So the trade was style for substance, stability for recklessness, tortoise vs. the hare. From a distance it looked like the Griz got screwed again...not so. The Kings took a risk, but they knew they would have never advance without a different type of floor leadership. Has JWill improved? No question he has, under the strong hand of Hubie, but which player would you rather have now? Substance or style? The simple bounce pass vs. the alley oop? To me it's a no-brainer. D R
If the Rockets move Steve, Van Gundy better be real secure in his job, because the team will suffer. Steve still puts alot of pressure on the opposing defense and he is definately our top scoring option. Yao probably is not ready to carry the scoring load. Maybe he will but that is a huge maybe. I would be so happy if they could move Steve and get value in return, but I feel that is highly unlikely. We need to hope that Steve and Yao will improve and we can tweak the team. I think the right thing to do is try to move Steve and rebuild. But who in all of Rocket-dom from Les Alexander to you and I want to be that patient. Didn't think so. I'm all for moving Steve, I really believe it is the best thing in the long run, but not for the sake of getting rid of him. And boy that would put us back into a rebuilding mode, lottery mode - even the thought of it makes me sick. Unless, we could get an Elton Brand or better for Steve. Just seems too unlikely.
Well, if Steve is not here, there won't be that many posts any more and CC.net servers will work much less. I bet $5 to the fund that he will stay here. I pay $5 if he is gone.
I pretty sure the Rockets will at least look around. If the deal is right, the Rockets will take it. He’s not untouchable. He had the worse season of his career and the Rocket still made the playoffs despite that.
Big talk. You want to back it up? 250+ people voted and a handful willing to take the bet. C'mmon guys and gals. The money is going to a good cause.
I think SF will stay in Houston next year. I don't see any way we can get back the same value as we give. (Stevie's value). So he stays, IMO. BUT, our PF are all gone.
Tell you what. I'll pony up $10 to the Tip Jar if Steve IS traded. No bet. If Steve leaves, I'm out $10, but I get my wish. If he stays, I get to keep my $10... and watch him finish #2 in total turnovers again.
Well that's just having our management's attitude. "T-mac? No way! Too scary! It's too overwhelming, can't happen! NOPE! Not gonna happen. Let's just keep Steve. Sure T-mac would be a better fit, and just what we need till Yao gets the desire to take over. Hm, sure are a lot of reasons to go after T-mac, really good ones too. But, nah, just can't do it. So he stays." C'mon ppl! My god! We have to go after T-mac at all costs, he should be our number one priority this off season. He must be obtained.
I don't think they would trade Steve. I think the following will be shopped: Taylor Cato Nachbar Mobley I think they definitely need a better 2 guard to help Steve. Mobley fell off this year. Cat would be better coming off the bench.
You're not gonna find a better two gaurd, at Cat's price. Still, a better 2, while keeping Steve, would still leave us as a team with redundant shooting gaurd line up.
Yes, he will be here. Sorry for the pathetic post but I so want to see the secret forum. Two Thousand Post Club, here I come.
