Agendas I think this has less about making a great movie as it is abuot getting his boy into 'da business' I saw "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Pursuit of Happyness" In the former . .the kid was *ss horrible in the Ladder he was better [younger version of himself] He is WILL and he can do what he likes I am just not impressed with the kid so far. That said. . this movie should be ok. Movies are becoming like music. . .it is not who has 'talent' it is about Who can put *sses in the Seats You throw out various names. .. people will see it just based on that Rocket River
I guess it mirrors the decline of television, radio... and basically, society. Lower standards from an uninformed, uneducated, undiscerning public. Sigh.
Trailer doesn't look too bad, but we are talking about a classic here. I think this movie will just be targeted to the younger generations that may not have the same appreciation for a great movie that was the original karate kid. And Jaden is way too young to do this role, but it more than likely is just for the younger generation.
LOL....you act if the original Karate Kid was OSCAR-WINNING!! LOL. The acting was terrrible......except for Pat Morita. It definitely not a CLASSIC. A fond memory from childhood...yes.
Will Smith has undoubtedly reached the level of fame and success that deludes him into thinking attaching his name to something will overcome its suckitude. Either that or he is so rich he wants to give his son something to do regardless of the outcome. Who will play Miagi? Morgan Freeman?
There are plenty of movies that are classics that didn't get nominated for or win Oscars. The Karate Kid is definitely a classic. I have to admit that the trailer looked better than what I expected but I still don't think they should have remade the movie.

The Karate Kid shouldn't have cornrows. Those are so 5 years ago. Now if he were wearing oversized Ray-Bans, camo pants, and a baseball undershirt...then we'd be in business.
I think this movie could have been cool if they just named it something else. At least the action scenes will be better than the original karate kid but that's not what the original movie was about. I'll watch it but when it comes out on BD and not in the movies unless it's a cheap or free showing.

I haven't seen any of the Karate Kid movies since I was a kid. But, I happened upon the end of Karate Kid II while flipping through channels the other day. What a terrible piece of crap movie that was. I didn't realize until I saw it again. As for this Karate Kid movie, I concur that he is too young. More specifically, he's too damn skinny. I can't believe he could have any strength at all in a push and a punch. Another kid his same age with a meatier physique would throw him all over the room, regardless of how much karate he knows.
I whisted for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and had dice in the mirror. If anything i could say that this cab was rare but i thought nah, forget it yo home to Bel-Air. I pulled up tp a house about seven or eight. I yelled to the cabbie yo home, smell you later. Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air. Movie looks good to me, though Jacket off, Jacket on, pick up jacket, just isn't as fun as wax on, wax off, and paint the fence up down and side to side.
Nothing is going to ruin Karate Kid because that movie was crap. It was fun watching because we were little kids, but looking at the movie from the bigger picture, it is uber crap. Racism, bad plots, bad acting job, and cheesy lines.. stop acting like the Karate Kid original was anything great.
