was watching anthony jeselnik's 2 specials the other day. daaam he should host the oscars next year. maybe have a trio of him, burr and gervais host award ceremonies, and seat the audience closer to the stage

I'm sure he knew. She's been vocal about it.

Sorry, while it may be a frustrating and emotional thing to lose one's hair, especially for a woman, it's not a serious disease that causes physical harm. She's been open enough to speak about it on her show and "confront" it by shaving her head. It ain't that serious. She was just being a ho as usual, and Will, ****ed in the head from all the shenanigans the past couple of years, overcompensated by "defending" his wife. It was absurd. He slapped the man on stage in the middle of an awards ceremony, walked off smirking, then doubled down dropping F bombs like it was a Boston sports bar.

    Right.

Why would he know just because she’s talked about it? Jada Smith having alopecia is buried 50 feet under the Kylie Jenner changes baby name article.

But to your point it doesn’t matter. Even if he knew, it wouldn’t even be worth a vocal confrontation backstage. Completely ridiculous on Will’s end.

imagine an alternate reality where rock made the joke and a laughing jada stands up and flexes her muscles to show her strength just like GI jane. then when will smith gets up to accept the oscar for best actor he says "i love chris rock, but he made a joke a few minutes ago and i just want to speak to that real quick. jada suffers from alopecia and its something that effects millions of women. she is a tough woman and can laugh it off, but i know its painful for lots of other women out there and i just want to bring attention to this disease. chris is a good guy and i dont think he meant any harm, but jokes can sometimes be hurtful and id hope in the future he and other comedians might think about how their words can effect people."

he could have easily flipped the narrative here...something along those lines would have made him look like the good guy and rock kind of like a douche.

Smith's response was wrong. Period. Don't interpret this as justification. But two seemingly conflicting things can be simultaneously true.

As I tell my kids, did your behavior make things better, neutral, or make things worse? It requires post-reflection rather than pre-supposition. In the world of reflection, you can take responsibility for your own role in the outcome. Chris is the one who set that ball in motion and I'm sure in an alt universe he now wishes he hadn't.

Just because a comedian can make a joke, doesn't make it a good idea.

Just for emphasis, Will Smith is much much more wrong than Chris Rock. I'd also like to note that the Academy handled it very poorly! Letting him go onstage to accept the Best Actor award was a travesty. They were clearly more interested in their own pageantry and prestige than public decency.

and like clock work. . . . . Jada comes out saying she don't need Will's protection and she wishes he had not done it
All she had to do was say nothing

    BUT
I knew she was gonna throw him under the bus

I did not know this, that would have been interesting, but I don't think he could have pulled off the wild eyed wonderment that Keanu did.

Dude is stuck like chuck. I don't think they had a prenup and they got married right when Will blew up so there's a TON of money at stake for him if he goes through a divorce right now. That's just the financial aspects. I'm sure Jada would love nothing more than do a tell-all book deal about their open marriage if/when a divorce happens, further undressing Will in the public eye, with scandalous stories about what went on during their 20+ years of marriage.

But what's the price one would pay for--especially one that's as high profile as Will Smith is--to be able to keep one's sanity and self-esteem?
